No, no, no, no. This isn't a war. It's an exploration, a sharing of experiences, knowledge, evidence and beliefs. No one ever really wins a war. People die, they're injured, maimed, left homeless and without families. I know the propaganda machine tries to glorify war and people think that defending their beliefs somehow glorifies their gods which makes it tempting to want to view it in such terms.

But maybe if we try to view it for what it is, we can produce something other than blood-shed, hatred and sadness.

There is nothing I have ever found in the Bible that promotes balance.

There is going to be one group or a few groups banding together for the purpose of oppressing the others with a dissenting opinion. It cannot be avoided. In general, those that felt so oppressed will become the thing they disliked: they will become the oppressors.

To be quite frank, the only way I see to make the "the new way" really work it is to do exactly what is happening. The ones for the new way must push out or otherwise oppress the ones remaining who are uncomfortable with the change.

I feel bad about saying this but I can actually understand why when theres so much fightng among ourselves. Cutting off the ears of others can happen. Good thing the Lord is shown healing them.

I can't help but wonder how many leaders would last if this was done? Would Moses have been voted in or even been kept in more than a year? Would Joshua have made it due to his age? John the Baptist?

Christianity isn't a democracy, and I see no where in the Bible that leadership is based on what the majority of the people want.

But like I said before, when you are in a guest's house, you play by their rules.

Not one in opposition has offered how this direction goes against the word of God. I see a lot of people complaining about safety being removed but nowhere in scripture are we told to gather safely. We are, in fact, told to be in the world. I see nothing in this new system that goes contrary to God's word. I also don't believe the NC is necessary at all. We have scripture and we need nothing outside of it. It is good description of Biblical doctrines but it is only man's description of them it is not the word of God.

Nowhere in the proposition does it say chaos or anarchy will be allowed. In fact it states the rules will be simplified and the congregational forums, and other forums, will be able to vote on their own rules. This is not chaos at all. It seems that you are speaking from ignorance as to what is happening. Where in Erwin's post does he assert that the forum will be lawless and without rules?

We are told to love one another and we are told the definition of love. You can couch your words however you want but they are not kind in the least. They are not patient. They are not loving which we, as Christians, are instructed to be. You are welcome to your words and thoughts but as Christians we are called to correct wrongs when we see them. If you want to try and define your words as loving in any sense that is up to you. I will point out hypocrisy where I see it and do so in the kindest manner possible. I see your words as hurtful and a bad witness. The fact that more atheists are willing to be loving in this thread speaks to the state of Christianity here at CF and proves that something needs to be done and fast. Lucky for the whole of the body something is being done.

It was largely traded off for power and control. We're trying to get it back now... some of us.
