I'ld be interested in knowing myself. I've had upwards of a dozen different account, some of them with good lives. Perhaps we've met before.
Lisa asked this in the last thread but I'm also curious about those who have been banned. uhh...no reason, no reason ::shifty eyes:: just curious.

That would be a surprise. While we're all debating, the change takes place in 5, 4, 3...

As far as I am concerned, the main change has occurred.

"Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" Martin Luther King, Jr.

I think I am going to add that to my signature!!!;)

One question we could be asking is about the nature of the democratization? Is this going to be strict majoritarian or constitutional, so to speak. I.e. will there be limits on the majority, or at least the prospect of overrides?

If the majority vote in a jerk, does he stay no matter how unfair he is? Or will he be taken out? If so, then is he ineligible to run again for a time?

(While others may fear non-Christian mods, I am at least a little concerned that we may end up with a power struggle wherein different camps seek to get the least moderate folks in they can. It does sometimes happen that someone is a moderator in name only and I could see strict majoritarian appoaches leading down that path. Mind you I'm not so scared of this I oppose the reform; but it is a concern.)

If there were details on this, I missed them. Will the hierearchy be determined by direct democracy, or will it be elected by the other moderators?

Repeating what I said in the last thread before it closed:

I'm just concerned about hotheads from both ends of the spectrum (believers and non-believers). It's not a concern that the sole problem will be non-believers. I just want to clarify that.

Explanation: I'm not attempting to demonize anyone.
That's probably not a bad stance overall. I think everyone has reason for a little anxiety here. But if we can use the history of other forums as a model, overall it will be a very positive change. At most a few of us here will need to thicken our skins a bit but that's never a bad thing. We should never fear hearing the opinions of others, even if expressed in an abrasive fashion. We still can (I assume), use Ignore if we find certain personalities too abrasive for our personal tastes.

Having said that, it seems an outline of the changes has been posted and I don't see it among the announcements or in the Rules section. Can anyone point a finger in the right direction? (Or is it kind of buried now within this series of threads?)

I think we all need to take a breather and let this overflogged dead horse get buried. We've stomped a mudhole and walked it dry several times over now.

So many assumptions about this and that... and everyone is convinced THEY are right. I think we all need to go to our respective corners and count to ... say 1,000,000 and let the dust settle. We've managed to stir up a major dust cloud in such a short time that we can't see anything now.

We're all just seeing red like the bull being taunted by the matador. Take a chill, drink a beer, watch a movie, go do something else ... rest assured this thread and it's 27 other splits will be here in a couple hours when you return.

I'm glad to see the changes because I feel they are truly in tune with Erwin's vision. I'm suprised at the vehement opposition to the changes and the threats. (threats to leave, threats to "fight" this) If you don't like it then just leave. Don't act as if your petty threats of taking away your precious money or whatever are going to do anything. Christ isn't just for the conservatives here. He's and his message are for everyone and I'm glad that is true here. (or at least being attempted)

I think that the changes will allow us to feel more that there does not need to be a conflict between our consciences and our participation here. I'm not sure if I can explain what I mean, but I'll try.

Before, even though my own faith was accepted as Christian, I always felt like there was some level of wondering, what if my beliefs take me one direction, and CF's ideas about what constitute a Christian go a different direction? Of course, I'd have to choose my faith above interaction on an internet forum! But I guess part of me felt more like a visitor than a member because of that.

Maybe it's because I have, at times, met people who insisted that I wasn't a Christian, that my having faith and loving Jesus isn't enough if I don't have their particular collection of doctrines. It hurts.
If CF is truly not denominational, who gets to decide which denominations qualify as Christian and which do not?

Additionally, will it be possible for individual forums, after a vote of the majority, to secede from the main forum, establishing their own declaration of independence, and laws of their area, enabling such things as the permanent appointment of representatives/staff to enforce and create the laws, and a judiciary to ensure appropriate checks and balances are in place? :)
