This is sad and really tells how nasty the Islamic authorities can be. There is no freedom in Islam, and if Erwin opens the moderatorship up to Islam, then we can have terrorists onboard who may hack CF too.

This is a real danger.

To the staff voting, perhaps I am optimistic, but I think that members will take it seriously, especially since their votes have actual weight. I can't imagine members voting in trolls as their staff. It would make no sense, and the consequences would be felt primarily by those who voted that staff member in.

As for it being a popularity poll, I hope that if it is, any popularity will have been earned on the basis of the candidates having shown a willingness to maintain decorum, unbiased decency towards others and level-headedness in their posting. If the members see candidates regularly resorting to ad hominem attacks, flaming others, and throwing the sort of angry fit I recently managed on another site doh: ) I doubt they would vote for them for moderator no matter what their philosophies.

I would also expect most members to be put off by anything that smacked of campaigning. How silly that would be. Anyone doing such a thing would probably only manage to disqualify themselves in most people's minds.

I am really interested what are the points of the new proposed changes,the current moderators disagree with,and why.
