  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I really need some support and prayer. I am a new Christian and I really do need support from those who really care about one another and want to show some one how to connect with the lord. I feel as if there is no hope and it has gotten to the point to where at times I wish I would not wake up. I have been on my own since I was 12 years old and recently gave my self over to Christ but I just got laid off, afraid I will be homeless before long and I am just so tired of fighting to survive. There are those around me that say they are Christians and tell me don;t worry about tomorrow, but yet they have work and a roof over their head. All I want to do is work and even if I had a garage to live in, I would go to that. I could not even get a few dollars for gas from them. Is there anyone out there that really cares and can also teach me to pray and connect with the lord??

I really care. I've also been a terrible person most of my life. Giving is what the faith is all about. Giving and not taking. And if the whole world gave instead of taking we would have paradise. Christians are obligated to help one another. If you need help find some Christians and if they refuse ask if they are really following the way of God.

As for coming to God. Ask him to reveal and remove any sinful parts of you he doesn't like. Ask him to come into your life and change it for the better. Finally, so far as sin is concerned whether it is small or big, a sin is a sin. You are not a serious Christian until you are dedicated to living without sin. If you don't do that you haven't understood yet. It's okay, I think. I had to actually leave the Christian faith for me to learn that I had never really understood it. Now I'm on Gods side 110%. I just hope I can still be forgiven.

Chillman - Try the Salvation Army for some help - find a church near you - go speak with the Pastor. If you got laid off - you should be eligible for unemployment - try all of these while you are looking for work.

Don't let this harm your faith, keep close to Jesus - He is by your side. Sometimes we have to go through the valley to reach the top of the mountain.Keep us posted on how you are doing. In these hard times, don't be angry if people don't give - many are having a hard time themselves.

Chillman,

Please don't give up! I know that times are tough for you right now and I am sorry that you are feeling so stressed and hopeless. You are feeling all alone but you aren't! God wants you to put this into His hands. My husband was also laid off. I was pregnant and we were both stressed and upset. We have a high mortgage and worried about making the payments. He is back to work now but his income has decreased and he working over 100 miles away indefinitely. We are trying to get a loan remodification from the Bank but they have been busy losing paperwork and delaying the process. I turned to God and put it into his hands. He has been sustaining us. I firmly believe that. We don't know what will happen and are taking it day by day. That what you should do as well. Take each day as it comes, Chillman. Some people may appear to have it all together but you don't know what goes on behind closed doors.

My prayer is more like a conversation. I tell God my worries, fears and hopes for the future. I also try to make sure I give him thanks when something good happens in my life. I think you will connect better with God if you pray in a place that is free from distraction. I pray at night, sometimes early in the morning if I actually wake up before my kids!:)
I use a Life Application Bible when I read. I am currently doing a read the Bible in a year plan. God speaks to us through His Word.

I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone and that I care about you and will pray for your situation. May I suggest something to you? Klove.com is a Christian radio station. You can listen to the music online and I find it to be really positive and uplifting.

All of you that have shared with me have really inspired me a lot. I know there are others that have it worse off then me. Living here in Lake Forest California there are a lot of people that say they are good Christians but even if you try and speak with them they act like they do not want to be bothered. I know I must except what the lord puts in front of me. When you have no family or anyone you feel you can turn to it gets real hard. It really was strange, my birthday was January 4th and they bought me a cake and card at the office then they next day, they laid me off. I am even thinking about trying to find work in another state. I lived in Texas before and worked on a ranch and I can take care of someone that needs help. Money I only need for gas and some personal things but i would even work for food and boarding. I am a very good handy man and have all my own tools as well. Hopefully wont need to sell them next. Bottom line is that I know the fallen one, (as I call him) is always working to bring us back to him. If anyone wants to speak with me on a personal site please send me a text 714-299-2519 God Bless you all.

I don't suppose you've ever considered a monastic vocation?

Chillman,

I understand how you feel about fellow Christians. My in-laws are that way. They feel they are good Christians because they sit in Church every Sunday and and say they love Jesus. Meanwhile, they behave in very unchristian ways. It is very hypocritical.

If you are single and can found work in another state-you should! It would probably be a good opportunity for you:) Oh, and Happy Belated Birthday!:D

I also know what it feels like not to have anyone. My husband and I don't have any support from our families-none. I had my third baby last April and I sat in the hospital totally alone. No one came to see me or even called. felt very upset and alone but I knew no one would be there. God gives us these trials in life to build our character and to draw us closer to him. God does care and He does answer prayers.
