God bless you! May he use the suffering you've had to lift other people and ease their suffering. I also had a sad childhood with alcoholism, mental illness and disability in my family. The Lord has used my experiences in a very explicit way, so that I can see other people, understand them better and make them see they are valuable and precious.

WOW! I never expected this thread to still be near the top of the list! How amazing. I am so glad my story has touched all of you and I hope it has encouraged you all. I have a blog and keep it updated as much as I can. I have been told many times my life would make a good soap opera, but I prefer what it is able to do here on Christian forums, encourage my family in Christ! God bless you all.

It certainly blessed me! I'm going through a divorce right now. I married a man who claims to be a Christian and prays, but certainly isn't acting like one (girlfriend on line, went to Canada to visit her) he has agreed to go to counseling to help me deal with it though. It's relatively new, he told me he wanted a divorce less than a month ago and I'm still pretty raw. It's so heartening to see God use your pain and heartache to help us and to bless you with more than you could have ever imagined. Thanks again for your courage in sharing.
