This is a great quote from the "Dake's Annotated Reference Bible". Dake was a "gap" theorist unfortunately, but in no way believed in evolution!

...If some through ignorance of the Bible think they can believe in evolution and the Bible at the same time, they are highly deceived by Satan, the deceiver of the world (2 Cor. 4:3-4; 2 Cor. 11:14-15; Rev. 12:9). One cannot know the statements of both the Bible and evolutionists and believe both, nor can he be neutral. He must take a stand either for God and the Bible or for evolution and guesses. -- Finis Dake

More Dake:
"He (God) has a personal spirit body, shape, form, image and likeness of a man, bodily parts such as, back parts, heart, hands and fingers, mouth, lips and tongue, feet, eyes, hair, head, face, arms, loins, and other bodily parts. He has bodily presence and goes place to place in a body like all other persons. He has a voice and countenance. He wears clothes, eats, dwells in a mansion and in a city located on a material planet called heaven."

Obviously, Dake is the man with the right interpretation of the bible. All that doubt his interpretation are wrong.

(or maybe not?)

Since you are so quick to invoke Satan as being involved in what disagrees with your interpretations then how do you know Satan did not inspire the Bible and thus we are all being deceived?

Finis Jennings Dake (1902-1987) - dispensational Pentecostal fundamentalist. A minister who rejected formal training and traditional theology for his own extremely literal interpretation of the Bible. Much of his labors in interpreting Scripture did not even involve reading the Bible, since, as he claimed, the Holy Spirit taught him hundreds of verses without his ever having to read or memorize them. He also credited the illumination of the Spirit for his special understanding of difficult texts. His Dake's Annotated Reference Bible is controversial for teaching the gap theory*, adoptionism*, racial segregation, and a view of the Trinity as three Jehovahs (three Gods), each with their own separate bodies, souls, and spirits. Dake's other works include God's Plan for Man, Revelation Expounded, Heavenly Hosts, Bible Truths Unmasked, and 30 Reasons for the Separation of the Races.

why are literalists more likley to be hereitics? and how onb earth can someone maintain that 'the Bible is just guesses and how do we know not inspired by satan and deceiving us all'??!!! its just ridiculous, You cannot be a christain and not think the bible is from God or inspired by God or watever shade u want to put on it.

If it was a sarcastic comment made and ive missed the point and the joke(yeah real funny) then soz.

[From the retirement home, allowed because this isn't specifically about creationism]

On the "YEC Unite" thread the YEC side is spouting clear heresy. Firstly, that the Bible is part of God, whereas orthodox Christianity says that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The justification for this is a heretical reading of John 1, which is actually about Our Lord Jesus Christ, but due to an appalling error of equivocation is somehow thought to be about the Bible. Moreover, the strange assertion has been made that holiness means divinity. The misattribution of deity to a non-deific creature like the Bible is most certainly idolatry.

Secondly, it has been said that the human form of Our Lord was not His true form but was rather (and I quote) "a shell". This is Nestorianism, or possibly Docetism. Either way, it's not the orthodox position, which is that both the human and divine natures of Our Lord are equally integral to His person, inseperable and undiminished.

Yep. Definitely a tendancy towards heresy here. It's what happens when people think that all they need is themselves and a Bible, and 2000 years of tradition, scholarship and devotion can go hang.

It's an example of a literalist spouting heresy.

Why does the fact that the literalist in question wasn't you have anything to do with it? No-one said that all literalists spout heresy, just that they are more likely, as a group, to do so.

No-one claimed the Bible was inspired by Satan either. The rhetorical question was asked based on the hypothetical suggestion that it was.

can I get one of them there irony meters? I think mine is broken or something. Here is a guy whose claim to fame is Gap Theory, which you disagree with, and you are quoting him. and once again you figure out a way to call me a satan worshipper.

go figure.
