Yes - someone challenged me to. I was terrified and never again, but I'm glad I did it. I hate heights too, and don't like flying with an engine.

Yes...my father used to catch me out every April Fools Day when I was a kid. He told me there was a white horse in the neighbour's backyard for 3 years running when I was a little kid and each time, I believed him and rushed out to see it. lol

I hope it's ok if I change this one slightly...

No, we didn't do stuff like that - I don't even remember what happened the last day of school...I just remember it feeling really weird, never going back to school again, knowing I was (technically) an adult, and could now (in theory) make my own choices. It was a sort of wobbly feeling (No, we hadn't been drinking!)

Did you ever decorate your school with your classmates on your very last day there?

Nah, my last day
arrived three months before I was scheduled to leave school
I had, 'stayed-on' for an extra year
which was in my time 'voluntary'
However financial problems at home
required that I bring in a wage instead of, continue studies
for the GCE exams [in which I was expected to do very-well]

In common with tansy... such stuff didnt happen in schools in my area
and the adult world, forced one, to leave childish things behind

Yes... I played a sailor boy
in the High School production of, The Pirates Of Penzance
this included a soprano solo

I also sang as a member of the school choir at The Colston Hall
The Queen and Prince Philip attended ... some 'anniversary' or, other [I forget]

The Spacious Firmament, I recall, was amongst the song list
I still remember most of the words to it

Yes, we did a musical production of Noah's Flood, and I was one of the third violins.
Great fun. We did the show in a (church? or something like) off Park Street in Clifton (George Street).

George Street ? now THERE is a coincidence!!!

opposite that church, is The Georgian House
and further up the street is a property that I refurbished
all, by myself... replacing all internal doors with firedoors and frames
in reproduction of the originals
installed glass chandeliers and a white marble fireplace in the 'Board Room'
wallpapering the stairwell in reproduction papers [as were used in Georgian Times]
installing a lavatory and wash hand basin on the upper landing
and a kitchen sink and servery in the upper floor front room
and 'gold' painting of the iron work in bannister rails
Some 8-9 weeks work, as the sole-contractor

No, not ... but whilst 'scrumping' down the hill from lower schools
I espied this wonderful yellow apple.... it looked delicious and,
was the only one on that particular tree
The other trees could be robbed at-will but that one
was in full view of the garage behind it..
and although adrenaline was high
so was the risk of, being seen

so, several days later, I made up my mind, to 'go-for-it'
I scaled the tree with tremendous ease and reached for the apple
as I grasped it, it collapsed in my hand
maggots had munched it's insides to pulp....
'thou shalt not steal/ do not covet other people's goods'
Lesson-learned [?]

Wow, I bet that house looked great when you'd finished with it. I like Georgian houses. I assume you've been in the Georgian House, and the Red Lodge? The Lord Mayor's Chapel..that's amaing in there..it's been closed for refurbishing, now re-opened but haven't had a chance to visit it for ages.
Have you also been in Wesley's Chapel? I think that's a great building - and very light, and quiet...you wouldn't think it was in the middle of a city. I love looking in all the nooks and crannies of buildings...my friend laughs at me cos I even look up chimneys!...well, they DO tend to be a bit of a rarity nowadays, with central heating and so forth.

Oh dear...how funny about the apple...you should have known!...It was a bit of a rotten "apple" Eve ate , wasn't it? It would have been doubly annoying though, had you been actually caught pinching an apple that wasn't even any good,,that would really have been rubbing your nose in it.

No, I've never eaten an apple still attatched to a tree - but what made me think of it was, that my Dad (and maybe his friends), when he was young, climbed up a tree and ate the apples like that. Can you imagine the owner's surprise to find a load of apple cores hanging there?
My dad got up to all sorts of mischief when he was a kid.

Yes, to several visits to the Georgian House

nah... I guess I was a little more on the cautious side
ie: deferring to common-sense
I even managed to escape being crushed
along with the car I was driving in Germany
when, a 'Coal Train' climbed all over it
~two trailers hitched behind a lorry, all three loaded with coal

nah... I didnt get caught 'stealing' apples
but... that event, ended my days of, 'scrumping'

HYE got stuck up a tree, or on a roof, or in a hole, or.....? I have never been stuck anywhere like that. My brothers used to let me crawl through their hay bale tunnels and check them out when i was about 4 or 5. I was never afraid but i guess it was pretty dangerous I could have been squashed.

Not so much while in school. I did a lot of singing in choirs but was much too shy. Except for one farce just a short skit in grade 8 called "And the Lamp Went Out" It was pretty silly (the lamp actually got up and left the stage etc.). I was the bell ringer between acts demoted from the princess role cause I giggled too much.(nerves I guess) i have done a few skits and muscials as an adult nothing major and I got parttime work as an extra in a few movies. No speaking roles though. it was fun and interesting just not steady enough.

Yes, with a net as a young lad, for minnows and tadpoles
later, with rod and line in rivers where I had some success with rudd, dace and chub
I did one day, try sea-fishing from a beach
but I guess the fish weren't 'biting' that day
'wary' I wouldnt wonder of what, they might be biting
the tides there would bring effluent ashore

Nah... if, and when I had a trip coming-up
I woulda prepared for it [extra fuel/spare wheel/tools]

My trainng as an army driver had me doing 'pre-start-up' vehicle tests
ie: water, oil, battery, fuel, spare wheel
and my ability with orientation, had me study routes
that would ensure, ability to 'arrive' even-if, only, eventually

No..fortunately - though quite a few times it's been dicey with fuel. I remember years ago when we lived out in the sticks, and it was half an hour's drive to where mu husband worked. Anyhow, one evening I went to meet him in a cafe near to where he worked.
I could see the fuel guage getting closer ancloser to the bottom of the red, but there were no petrol stations anywhere on the way. I really had to resist the psychological impulse to drive faster before the petrol ran out ! LOL!
Well, I got to the cafe carpark, and as I drove into a space, the petrol ran out! Talk about perfect timing. I'm convinced that God has always looked out for me, even before I knew Him. It was especially fortunate as I had 2 of my very young kids with me.

the engine 'coughing and spluttering as I pulled up to a fuel station pump
after doing 30 miles on 'fumes'
oh did I have fingers crossed

yes, I have used a ladies tights to give her a makeshift fanbelt
and followed her to a garage

Yep, we've not got a car at the moment, but ususally, unless we're going a long distance, we've normally been so skint we've not put in more than a couple of quid's fuel at once, strictly on as need basis. That's why I think I have a dread of inadvertently ending up on a motorway, especially if I have no money with me, especially before the days of mobile phones and if we haven't belonged to any breakdown assistance thingy.
I did get on a motorway once by mistake...ended up headed for Wales...luckily I remembered there was a turn-off somewhere where I could get to Frenchay and find my way back

I've helped push a few vehicles to help get them started or to the side of the road...I even helped pushed the unit of the truck that my husband was driving to get that going once..must have been on a bit of a slope. otherwise I shouldn't think could have done it.
