A framework for trusting God with your problems

The main idea:

• any problem/hurt/worry/whatever....
• re-state it in such a way that the ANSWER is: trust Him

Sometimes it is easy to glibly give that answer, but you must be able to clearly enunciate WHY you think you can trust Him to solve this problem. If you wish you had pizza today but you only have burgers, it might be silly to say you trust Him to fix that problem.

Sometimes it is hard to think of WHY you should trust Him with the problem. You worry that He is punishing you, so why would you trust Him to not do what you know He is right to do?

The work or activity of this framework is to re-state your problem in such a way that the answer is clearly: trust Him. in a way that is clearly correct.

The presumption is that when you do so, and you DO simply trust Him, this will bring you peace of mind.

An example from my own life: Job security worries. Financial worries late in life. Trying so hard "not to fail and let everyone down." When I express my worries to my wife, she casually suggests I simply work harder, or more. I feel like I can barely do what I'm doing now. The fear is gripping. The hurt of her "not caring" stabs like a dagger.

1. Regarding the "wife and my feelings" part: Since I love her, and the Bible tells me that love is quick to believe good things and slow to believe bad things, I simply trust that I'm wrong about her response. She DOES care. Giving her the benefit of the doubt in this way is simply obedience to the Lord. And I trust that He rewards those that obey.
2. Regarding the "fear of losing my blessings and letting everyone down" part: It could happen to anyone, and I trust that "all things work together for good to them that love Him..."
3. Regarding this same fear, but in the sense that maybe He is punishing me for something: Since it is only fear so far, and He hasn't "done" it yet, He may yet relent. And again, all things work together for good....
4. Regarding the same fear, but in the sense that maybe the time of my blessing is just done: I trust that He even cares for birds and flowers and leaves. Why would He forsake my wife and kids? I trust that He has blessings left for them at any rate.
