Nice combination; reading the poem first and then listening to you reading it out loud.

The way each author/poet reads something, whether it is own written works or the ones of others, are done in different ways. Yet, there is an own "feel" and "expression" given through the way it is done.

It is still beautiful to experience, when each author/poet expresses with full emotion given what they have made. :rose:

The Watchers

That great cloud of witnesses
That watch us run our race,
We do not hear their cheering,
We see not each radiant face.

But by faith we share their joy,
Take strength from their example,
Who ran the race before us
And triumphed in the battle.

Those heroes and heroines
Know well, what is earth's hard life.
Now in waiting bliss, they too
Have tasted its sweat and strife.

Praise God for men and angels
Daily watching from above
Our stumbles and blunders seen
And understood by their love.

Beautiful poem! It also moved me to tears. It was also encouraging to read, as a reminder to us for keep on running the race and fighting each battles put before us, yet never done alone! As our Lord God fights for us! And He goes before us, letting us walk into victories because of Him!

And we have the support of the great cloud of witnesses! Even though we may not hear them cheer directly nor see their joy for us, we can know that they do this! Together with God and His angels! :)

I also love this poem! And again; Great hearing you read it out loud too!

All praises to God!

Stairways

Stairs going up, stairs going down,
Spiraling stairs going around, around, around.
Which ones to take, which ones to leave,
Ladder or snake? Where does it lead? What is achieved?

Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down,
Sometimes you just go around and around.
Nobody knows the troubles you've seen,
Nobody 'cept Jesus.

I passed a man coming up the stairs,
Deep in thought and deep in prayers,
To follow him I turned around
And found that he was going down.

'This way is up. I'm sure', I said.
He answered not, as deaf as dead.
Another came and passed me by
In deep sorrow I heard him cry.

Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down,
Sometimes you just go around and around.
Nobody knows the troubles you've seen,
Nobody 'cept Jesus.

This house of shadows, stairways, halls
Can cause confusion, can enthrall.
Imprisoned in its endless loops,
We twist and turn and jump through hoops.

To break the spell, to breath pure air,
We long and seek that certain stair.
That takes us to that highest place
Where stress and cares will be erased.

There's a time to step up, there's a time to step down,
There's a time to stop going around and around.
Don't despair midst this strangely ordered disarray
In all its shambles there's a certain stairway.

Sometimes you're up, sometimes you're down,
Sometimes you just go around and around.
Nobody knows the troubles you've seen,
Nobody 'cept Jesus.

Very nice poem!

The Escher stairs reminds me of much of the drawing/painting styles of my uncle.
Look up his other drawings CP, Among my favourites are the one of leaves reflected in water and the one of black birds flying out of the night merging with white birds flying out of the day? ><>

Party-time

A fiery clown has come down
Over forests, lanes and towns.
No trumpets blown, no drums rolled,
Out of the morning mists he strolled.

Yello! Yello! It's party-time!,
He smiled. His reds and golds he sprayed around.
And God's whole house was swathed with hues untold.
All about the orange glowed, crimson leaves displayed.

The ceiling now was light with blue.
Gardens, hedges, horizons luminesced.
And in men's hearts was measured joyful rest.
And some did overflow, who in gold were dressed.

The party clown fills his weeks,
Fills the lanes and fills the streets,
With all his fallen finery.
We rake up and try to tidy.

A fish amoung many

You are that one with silver sides yet you have a red slash on your throat and the silver salmon unlike the cutthroat or Dolly Varden is unique and distinct .

Two Christians make up Jesus with a movement of their feet. Jesus now days is expressed in a silver symbol of the Lord.

No one is a fish but you are one making our relationship good as I am a ram and I hope to say so with all his saints of which you are one. -Greatcloud

Thanks for all of these poetic creations, afish. I was greatly comforted by "The Watchers". I sometimes think of the line of male relatives that I was named after and how they "took up their cross daily". This is a real source of strength at times. In "Stairways" I could really relate to the person going "around and around". One of the first ticklings of a philosphical/theological nature that I recall was brought about by the title of the book, "The Crack in the Cosmic Egg". It gave me the inkling that there could be thought/awareness/reality beyond what I had accepted as the sphere in which I could act and think.
And "Party-time", what a beautiful painting you have given us with bold color and grand scenery and then there is that last line and BAM!, back to reality (household chores at least). I believe your muse has been working overtime!

Anticipating

There's a waiting, like the passing of all the time there ever is.
There's a looking, like the seeing of a city out of sight.
There's a listening, like the hearing of sweet music in darkest night.
There's a yearning, like the keening of those bereaved and left alone.
There's a learning, like the stirring of long lessons finding home.

Strong souls bowed down with all the weight of waiting,
Stand up and sing with joy, anticipating,

The arriving of The Ruler, all victorious,
The reigning of Our King, his kingdom glorious,
The taking of The Serpent Liar
To await his fate, eternal fire.
There is a learning, yearning, listening, looking, waiting time.
