• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone have a plan set up in case their depression end of the bipolar paralyzes them? I've lived through the depression side atleast 10 separate times. And i feel like it would be helpful to have some saftey plan. Like somewhere I could go (a friend or relatives house). Kind of have all the forms for disability filled out except the signatures and stuff in case I can't work. Have a long talk with my spouse (although he refuses) as to what we would do and how we would get by (he does like to live in denial about this problem). I just feell ike if I had a plan set up like this it wouldn't be so incredibly stressful and it might make the episode not escalate into such a life shocking ground rocking situation if we/I thought aobut these things in advance. Maybe even set aside like $1000 in a savings account to help with the bills so I could take a leave of absence for a week or two to stop an episode before it happens or recovry/live through it without having to drag my sorry behind to work each day like a zombie.

Anyone else thought about stuff like this? Any one else have a plan in place?

Just a thought or am I a crazy type A planner?

I have other type of contingency plans, but yes, know of those who have these in place. It is part of a WRAP plan. A Plan to wrap around you and keep you safe in a crisis. I have already lived thorugh the days of taking a leave and onto disability. So I think you are p[lanning wisely and have some excellent ideas. Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you lemonflavor, I could not find a link nor remember what the wrap letters stood for!!! Blessings! And thank you for your research!
Silly me didn't even realize the title of the book is WRAP or I would have mentioned it. I read the book a while ago. My library system has it.
