• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey

A concen I have at the moment, I am struggling with clinical depression

One of the side effects of the clinical depression is zero appetite, so much so, I had to kind of eat a meal last night, soley for the reason to not end up with a low blood sugar, blood pressure etc

I hoped having a few meals might kick start my appetite, and it hasnt. Its really hard to eat and the fear is of going the other path and ending up with an eating disorder

If anyone reads here thats been through a similar thing, would appreciate hearing from you, or anyone who has a word of wisdom

As someone with an eating disorder and clinical depression... please push yourself to eat. I know it's hard, and I know it sucks. But if you get into the habit of skipping meals - well, let's just say that that is not good for your body. It messes up your metabolism, hormone levels, all that, and you really don't want to play around with stuff like that. Are you in treatment at all for your depression? Are you seeing a psychiatrist? 'cause if you are, they'll find an antidepressant that works, and that'll make the depression lessen, and in turn that will stimulate your appetite again. If you're not in treatment, I would highly suggest that you try it out. Very highly suggest. Yes. Until then, hang in there, and force yourself to eat at least two meals a day, if not the full three.

I'm here if you ever need anyone to talk to.

Yes I have this exact same problem. When the depression is at it's worst sometimes I think I have an eating disorder. I guess a good question to ask yourself is are you pleased when you skip meals, does it empower you, do you want to be thinner do you think you life would be better if you were thinner do you think obsessively about food and weight....things like that. Or are you just not hungry? And have no interest in eating amoungst other things.

Either way please try to eat...you body needs it!
And I agree with soulwings about the therapy and medication...if those are things you are currently not involved in.

God bless!

Update

I had lunch, 2 eggs and 1 1/2 sausages, didnt want it, but also didnt want to be fainting

For tea, had a small bit of stew

Right now I could either take or leave food, however I can see it is important to be having a small bit at meal times
