Back when the whole Evolution/Creation thing was going strong I got some head trip discussions going on the Dmanisi fossils. They were found in Russian Georgia and up until now have seemed rather ambitious. Finally they dug an intact, almost complete skull up and it's a beauty. I was wondering if anyone on here was still into fossils. Too bad shernren isn't posting anymore, he would have loved this one:

The site of Dmanisi, Georgia, has yielded an impressive sample of hominid cranial and postcranial remains, documenting the presence of Homo outside Africa around 1.8 million years ago. Here we report on a new cranium from Dmanisi (D4500) that, together with its mandible (D2600), represents the world's first completely preserved adult hominid skull from the early Pleistocene. D4500/D2600 combines a small braincase (546 cubic centimeters) with a large prognathic face and exhibits close morphological affinities with the earliest known Homo fossils from Africa. The Dmanisi sample, which now comprises five crania, provides direct evidence for wide morphological variation within and among early Homo paleodemes. This implies the existence of a single evolving lineage of early Homo, with phylogeographic continuity across continents. Science 18 October 2013

I heard about it on NPR, thought it might make for interesting conversation.

I don't get your meaning.

Any human lineage you propose in an Evolutionary context, operates on the presumption that a creature can fake the DNA of another creature (in order to transition between forms).

If you didn't fake the transition, it wouldn't happen (and faking doesn't happen).

Don't even get me started on the evident problems of the dating they use, millions of years for anything remotely active as a living creature is out of the question in terms of ageing, sustainability and flexibility, let alone mutability.

We haven't had the chance to get acquainted, you should know, I'm a Creationist. For...seven years now I guess, I've been arguing that Chimpanzee skulls are being passed off as our ancestors. You have a skull about 1300 cc and some change. A chimpanzee averages around 450 or so. This amazing fossil while 100 cc bigger then modern apes is just another Eurasian ape.

I brought it up here because the fossils that are coming out of the region have been estimated to be around 800cc. Nothing conclusive mind you but quite the puzzle for an avid Creationist Paleontology buff like myself. There was a time when the thread would have been inundated with a dozen or so evolutionists by now.

The culture wars are over but from time to time I get a little nostalgic.

At any rate, hope that clears this up.

Grace and peace,
Mark
