  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

(Flying at the same altitude, is not necesarily forbidden by the rules of
safety. Visual separation, is, in this case.)

But, I wish to bring back the discussion of having thousands of electric
flying "cars", along with thousands of delivery multicopters ("drones")
also operating within city limits.

The rosy suggestions by billionaires, who want to develop flying cars,
AND thousands of delivery drones, and clog up the sky with them,
ALWAYS WAS A BAD IDEA.

Anyone who flies R/C aircraft, would know that "visual separation" is
enough to avoid a collision.

I will wait for the professional analysis of the collision.

But, I point out the insane related topics, that no one wanted to bring up.

That was a report first made yesterday and Trump said that
the helicopter was flying too high, was based on what they knew
at the time. The BBC didn't include the full report on what Trump said.

OH and BTW, the news this morning said that the initial reports are that the helicopter was flying
too high. :D

Yes, if a military trained crew with night goggles can crash into a commercial passenger plane while supervised by air controllers using computer monitoring, as far as I know, surely we might need some pretty competent flyers to manage in a sea of other fliers plus drones in a city sky. They might need effective, fail-safe auto-piloting with sensors to detect where other vehicles are.

One thing I thought of is those military night goggles maybe gave the fliers a sort of "tunnel vision" so they did not see that plane . . . which was coming in at a high speed from their side.

In a way, practically, there was no accident about that > with both vehicles flying so fast, to both cross that exact point in that moment was not very statistically likely, I would say. So, in a way, it was not an accident.

My question is, why are commercial airlines flying in an Army helicopter training area?
They were not supposed to be flying at the same altitude. The reason for the training exercise was to follow procedures for actual emergency situations. To give you an example. My Son in Law and Secret Service ran the elevator to the White House Bunker on 9-11 with no one else in the White House. They had been ordered to take the elevator down to remove all humans left in the building. All to avoid an apparent last attack .....That plane crashed in Pennsylvania. But they would not have been prepared without practice. Same with the chopper.
