Here's one. Because He said so, and He has the power to send you to heaven or hell. *shrug* I know where I'd rather go. But of course, then you'll give the argument of 'how do we know God is who He says He is' or 'how do we know the Bible is true'. Maybe even the argument that any God that would send someone to hell for disobeying Him isn't loving. What it ultimately comes down to is this: the Light came into the world, and the world loved the darkness rather than the light, for the very reason the site the OP gave- because mankind likes disobeying rather than obeying. Do you let a kid walk all over you when you are in authority?

Reward/Punishment is the most shallow of all moral reasoning. It is a cold, selfish philosophy in which "right" is whatever serves your own interest.

I do not exist in order to be manipulated, as in this case through reverse psychology. I did not click the button in order to strengthen my resolve to be my own person, and not some brainless sheep.

Do you let a kid walk all over you when you are in authority?

It depends on what the child is doing. If the child were to explain to me why she acted as she did, I might accept the reasons.

Also, children need to learn how to think and act for themselves. They need to learn how to stand on their own two feet. They need to learn how to become their own persons. They may need to make mistakes and learn from them. They need to mature, not merely be obedient drones.

Authority is not everything. It is better for a parent to be an authority, e.g. a source of wisdom, instead of authoritarian, e.g. a source of legalisms.
