Our culture, and skeptics in particular who defend evolutionary theory, often criticize the believer who embraces God and Biblical creation as unscientific, ignorant and foolish. This, despite some of the greatest scientists in history openly expressing their belief in God, acceptance of Biblical creation, and rejection of evolutionary theory. Here are 10 such men that discovered many of the laws of science we value so highly these days.

Sir Ambrose Fleming - father of modern electronics
Blaise Pascal - mathematician developing the theory of probability
Johann Kepler - mathematician and father of astronomy
Nicolas Steno - father of modern geology
William Thomson - father of engineering and laws of thermodynamics
Ernest T.S. Walton - PHD Nobel Prize winning mathematician and physicist
Robert Boyle - major contributer to chemistry and physics
James Clerk Maxwell - mathematician greatly influencing 20th century physics and thermodynamics
Leonhard Euler - one of the greatest mathematicians and theoretical physicists of all time
Isaac Newton - most influential scientist of all time

The way I see it, the skeptic who criticizes Bible believing creationists infers their pride and ignorance not only upon current Christians, but upon some of the most brilliant scientists of human history. And for those that have no respect for these historical sources, I offer this exceedingly interesting video interview with the newest, perhaps smartest mind on the planet. Everyone on both sides of the creation/evolution issue is bound to realize this sooner or later. Best watch it now and reassess your views appropriately.

Feel free to leave your comments below, but I have no desire or intention of arguing creationism vs evolution with others here in this thread. I merely want to share this extraordinary video with others.

I disagree with how you frame the issue. It looks like you've cast it as theistic evolutionist Christians don't embrace God or Biblical creation, which is not accurate.

Those people either existed before evolutionary biology was even a science or work in areas of science that have absolutely nothing to do with evolution, so it's not a very good argument.

Nope, see above.

I think its really simple. Dawkins say that evolution by natural selection gives the appearence of design but is not supernatural design.

Why. Its not because it doesn't look designed. But because the designer or the process that gives the appearence of design is not a designer and has no purpose or dirction towards anything but blind and purposeless survival.

So this seems a metaphyical inference or assumption as to whether its designed by a creator or by natural itself. But even then what is nature that it can produce anything without some prior laws in place to be able to set in place the conditions for even the appearence of design.

It seems to me that the assumption that nature gives the appearence of design is a pretty weak assumption and more like a belief. Just like belief in a creator God. Just opposing metaphyical assumptions that give the same result which is the appearence of design.

hmm - so probability, geology, astronomy, Chemistry and Physics, thermodynamics etc - have nothing to do with evolution?

I tend to agree with you on that point.

I agree that the story for evolution proposes a process with no intelligence , a designer with no intelligence. They appeal to the idea that if God did something -- then He did it in such a way as does not show him to have any intelligence at all.

By contrast we have Genesis 1 and 2.
has no purpose or dirction towards anything but blind and purposeless
yep that is what they speculate.

by contrast -- Rom 1 says even those with limited to no information from God on this subject - can see that creationism has the right answer - hands down.

Please look up each of those names and see when they did their work. (hint: you can't say someone "rejected evolutionary theory" if they died before evolutionary theory was developed)

Were you aware that Isaac Newton denied the divinity of Jesus? None of those guys denied Darwin's theory.

Interestingly, engineers have found that they can solve previously unsolvable problems by copying evolutionary processes. Genetic algorithms have been very effective in doing so. God knew best, after all.

They clearly saw science as being fully compatible with Biblical Creation

And, of course, biological evolution is consistent with Biblical Creation. It's not consistent with some modern interpretations of the Bible, but that's a problem YECs will have to deal with.

The biggest Biblical problem for YEC is the text which makes it clear the "days" of Genesis are not literal 24-hour days. But there are others. Strict YEC literalism has to incorporate the sky as a solid dome with windows in it, and a flat earth.

You've merely assumed a fantasy version of evolution, not the actual phenomenon. In fact, evolution is consistent with an intelligent creator. Not a mere "designer" though. You're thinking of "Intelligent Design" whose inventor said that the "designer" might be "a space alien." Which is consistent with YEC, but not with most Christian groups.

YECs don't toss Biblical details out the window; they just revise them to fit their new beliefs.

Interesting post Sir Joseph. Some have implied these renowned Christian scientists were dead before Darwin published his theory of evolution in 1859 . Four of them were in fact alive. Einstein's hero, the evangelical physicist James Maxwell, rejected Darwin's evolution theory. William Thompson, also known as Lord Kelvin, vehemently opposed evolution. I don't know what Ernest Walton's view was. But Sir Ambrose Fleming,( student of Maxwell) co-founded the Evolution Protest Movement, so it seems evolution wasn't his cup of tea.

Evangelical physicist James Clerk Maxwell is widely considered among the top 3 scientists in history, even Newton's equal according to the late eminent physicist Freeman Dyson. In fact Albert Einstein said that Maxwell was the initiator of the modern era of physics. Einstein said he owed his discovery of Special Relativity to Maxwell's Equations . " Maxwell changed the world forever," he stated. The largest photo in his home study was of Maxwell. Einstein had another photo in his study which was of yet another fundamentalist . It was of the scientist who showed us how electricity works and came up with the idea of "fields" - which is one of the most important idea in quantum physics.- the incomparable Michael Faraday. Imagine that; two Bible-believing church elders among the absolute top scientists in history.(Both believed in the eternal truth that Jesus is God.)
James Clerk Maxwell's passion for science was second only to his great love for Jesus. On salvation he said"...if I escape(hell) it is only because of God's grace, helping me get rid of myself..."["James Clerk Maxwell and the Christian Proposition", by Professor Ian Hutchinson, MIT.]
I am asking humbly and with genuine concern, that all you sweet people of all the wonderful ethnicities around the world who are not Christian that have spent your good time reading this thread, to accept Jesus Christ as your God and Savior. We will all kneel before the omnipotent Christ Jesus. Either as the most beloved children of His Great Father because we chose to believe in the Gospel of Christ!

Or as Christ's eternal enemy because one chose not to believe. You do not want to be the enemy of the all-powerful Being!
The only smart choice is to believe in Jesus! Everlasting-life in heaven is a free, infinitely valuable gift; but like any gift, you have to accept it. Lord Jesus will not force it on you. I hope to see you all there as I was once an ardent Christ-denier myself.

The New Testament in 1 John 4 says that God is love personified. Lord Jesus loves you so much but he won't force his love on one. So please choose to believe in him as your Savior.

Einstein's hero, the evangelical physicist James Maxwell, rejected Darwin's evolution theory.
Is there a primary source that demonstrates this? I can't find any evidence that he rejected Darwin.

There was one major problem with Darwin's theory. He couldn't explain how a new trait would spread in the population. If (as people then assumed) blood carried inheritance, a new trait in a population would be erased like a drop of red paint in a barrel of white. Then Mendel's work was rediscovered, and it turned out to be more like sorting beads than like mixing paint. And in a very short time after Morgan's discoveries, practically all scientists accepted evolution.

Darwin was once again shown to be right. BTW, Maxwell did not oppose Darwin's theory.

(Both believed in the eternal truth that Jesus is God.)
Darwin wrote that God created the first living things. At the time he wrote his book, he was an orthodox Anglican Christian.

And Kelvin was not merely wrong about biology; he was also shown to be wrong in his own discipline, physics.

Is is destructive to God's intentions for us and to His Church to argue that one cannot believe in God and still accept science. Please don't do that.

Maxwell pretty much said the same things Darwin said:

"In the case of living beings, however, the generation of individuals is always going on, each individual differing more or less from its parent. Each individual during its whole life is undergoing modification, and it either survives and propagates its species, or dies early, accordingly as it is more or less adapted to the circumstances of its environment. Hence, it has been found possible to frame a theory of the distribution of organisms into species by means of generation, variation, and discriminative destruction."
James Clerk Maxwell

Apparently, the story that Maxwell opposed Darwin was started a long time ago in a YEC textbook, and YECs have just been copying the story for decades.
