Not even remotly close analogy, since evolution can also then reuse the information, or even make sense in the context of what creationists and IDers will use information.

The point was it refutes the claim that there isn't junk DNA, why do we have smells that other animals have but we don't without evolution? with evolution it makes sense, as our noses arn't big enough for all the scents so as our nose changed they became less important, heck dolphins have genes for scents and can't smell with them, whats the point of that?
