Lautze,
You CAN see Christ. He is in every person you meet, for, as man was created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis), every person is an icon, or, image of Christ.
It is said in our Church, if you cannot see Christ in the dirtiest, most unlikable person you know, you will not see Christ at all.
When you love, as God loves, then you see Christ, and you see Him everywhere: in the plants, trees, the birds, the air, in your friends, in your enemies, in yourself, in great joy, in great sorrow, in your room, at work, etc.
As St. Patrick said:
" Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me, Christ in every ear that hears me. "
If you pray, if you honestly seek, if you say in your heart "God, I want to know You, no matter what it takes, even if it kills me, so that I may follow You.", then you will see Christ. Trust God, even when you do not feel Him, God is there. God is always waiting for us to seek Him.
About these evil spirits, do not let them worry you. Do not praise yourself for seeking God, for this is not difficult for man who was meant to live with God, and evil will not come to you when you initially seek. As the Scriptures say, if you go to God seeking Him and desiring to follow Him, He will not throw you a snake. Battles and discernment are for those experienced in spiritual warfare, but as for us beginners, God restricts the demons so that we are not overwhelmed before we have a chance to begin our training.
That said, be very suspicious of any physical sensations, voices, visions, etc. God will reveal Himself to your soul, not your physical body, most likely. When you find God, He will be experienced as peace, joy, serenity, love, gratitude, and/or joyful morning. Flee from vanity, pride, despair, laziness, judgementalism, resentment, self-condemnation, self-pity, wallowing in guilt, rage, anger (except against sin), and the like. Pride, vanity, vainglory, and simlar sins can be tricky, as they will make you feel good and correct. Always credit God, never congratulate youself for anything, for every good desire and action starts with God.
