  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Father, I pray that you will send relief to Chrystal-J, and cool water, and a breeze, that she might be able to withstand the heat.
I pray also for shade for her, so that she can rest. :crossrc:

My church has no AC (it's ceiling is 4 stories high). But it's still gonna be boiling hot unless the weather changes.
If this is how the weather's gonna be all summer, I may just stay in my house. I can do delivery service for food.

Does your church even have ceiling fans? I'd settle for those, perhaps.

I’m really stressed about this. Mom’s A C is not working as it should. She will not let me call service in. The humidity is through the roof along with the heat index. My stepdad’s services will not be this Friday but the next Friday. It’s a mess. Not a normal June! It’s miserable! Lord have mercy. :(
It's not even the first day of Summer and the heat is already unbearable. And with Indian Summer that comes in September, that means we're in for a long ride. Ugh why do people wait for this weather? This weather is torture. My B.O. even changes in this weather lol. Eww.

It's been in the upper 90s all week here so I feel for you. We've been under an Excessive Heat Warning and an Air Quality Alert all week as well so I've been staying inside except for a few minutes on the balcony from time to time. I have asthma as well as several other chronic health conditions and so even though I want to go swimming with my son, I'm afraid to do so because I'm afraid it will severely affect my health.

My wife and I are in Darwin, Northern Territory at the moment.

It's a subtropical climate (in my opinion tropical). It's technically the first month of winter and the start of the "Dry", but temperatures are around 20C minimum (68F) and sometimes verging on 35C maximum (95F).

I don't think I'd like to be here in summer in the "Wet".

As an aside, I remember picking up an American passenger and his family when I was driving a cab part time some years ago. He'd just flown into Brisbane from Darwin.

He complained that every time he went to Darwin (in the "Wet" season) they got clobbered by a cyclone. I could understand someone wanting to escape the bitter cold of northern USA around Christmas.

I didn't say anything but I remember thinking to myself "Then why keep going to Darwin around Christmas?"

Our Priest got rid of the fans we did have. He said they were 'distracting' with their humming sounds. I try to sit by the open door and hope there's a breeze.

Wow, I am glad we are in Winter here in New Zealand, to be honest, I do NOT like summer, I don't handle heat well at all and believe me, it can get hot here as well. I am so happy when I see Autumn come and winter. Both those seasons are lovely here.

Heck the heat is more distracting than the sound of the fans.:doh:

It's so dreadful, and the summer hasn't even started. Good grief. :sigh::sigh:

My wife and I are in Darwin, Northern Territory at the moment....

Just an aside, but we flew back home yesterday.

I knew there were US forces in Darwin, and probably at RAAF Tindall, about 300kms south of Darwin. Darwin Airport is shared by military and commercial interests, with the military side well established. There are military aircraft hangars off to one side.

We were in a coffee shop at the airport before departure and several military aircraft took off while we watched. I think they may have been F-22 Raptors, but I'm not sure. Some of them climbed pretty fast.

When we were in the aircraft waiting to get onto the runway, the captain said there would be a delay due to "military traffic". I think we watched 20 or so aircraft landing through our starboard porthole, craning our necks to watch as we were travelling the usual sardine economy class. We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes.

I suspect the fighters might have been American. As we took off we could also see a couple of what appeared to be V22 Osprey's waiting to take off themselves, with the rotors in the vertical position. I don't think the RAAF has them, so they were almost certainly US aircraft.

The miliary is well established at Darwin Airport, Northern Territory.

Adding on - there is a "Supercars" event in Darwin from the 17 to 19 June.

But they changed the rules regarding tyre pressures due to the high temperatures, and the fact that racing crew were trying to use the heat to get around the minimum tyre pressure requirements.

Supercars announces sweeping changes to tyre rules - NEWS

“When you see everyone baking the tyres out in the sun to get it to 17 psi, when they go cold they’re considerably lower than 17 psi,” Fitzsimons told Speedcafe.com in the wake of last year’s Darwin event.

It's hot in Darwin. Temperatures forecast for tomorrow, nineteen days into winter, are expected to be 33C maximum (91.4F) and 20C minimum (68F).

I don't think the locals know what cold weather is.

Feels hotter--I can't even go outside. I tried, but I couldn't breathe.

Look up in the sky next time you go out. Do you see any criss-cross "clouds"?
