Well let me start by saying that i am a christian and i do believe Jesus did die for my sins but i am now trying to understand the sorta how part of it, so that it can be deeper in my soul rather than just believing he died for my sins , but understanding it, gripping it , because i spose if i cant do that i've got a few problems..haha
Deep down in my soul i believe:
Jesus was God's son and was born by the Holy Spirit of the virgin mary
i believe he died and rose from the dead and now has the authority over Heaven and earth
What i am trying to understand or grasp is the forgiveness of sins part- like i believe i am forgiven when i ask Jesus to forgive me, but im trying to understand this. God's son came in a human body !00%human 100%God ok get that bit but how does him dieing on the cross cancell my sin

i believe he dieed so that my sins could be forgiven but why did he have to die on a cross for this to happen wasn't there any other way?
i believe he was raised to life by God im just confused about Him being the ransom for sins
i know sin separates us from God and forgiveness is the only way through what jesus did on the cross ,BUT WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL TRANSACTION THAT TOOL PLANCE ON THE CROSS

He took the cup (of punishment) reserved for us and drank it. It was a plan to take on our sins and our punishment. This is out of pure love and grace. And grace is by definition an undeserved gift, you just have to accept it the way a child accepts a gift.

Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

We have a great course run by Churches throughout Australia called "Christianity Explained". See if you have that in your country. It helps a lot when you can ask these in person to someone who knows.

More experienced Christians can probably help better. :)

Every time we sin we sin not only agaist the person but also against God. When we sin against a person we cause them suffering.

Justly, for every sin that we commit there is a consequence, just like in world. If I steal my neighbors car(broken law) then I can expect to go to jail(consequence).

The consequence for our sins is death, because once we have sinned we have lost the divine purity that we were created for. Once sin entered into the world all men lost their purity because sin is perpetuated from one man to the next forever. I sin because I have been sinned against and am too weak to stop the sin at me. An example of the perpetuation of sin: If a man is molested as a child he is likely to molest children when he grows up. Sin is like a contagious disease.

God saw that men were helplessly lost to sin, but He also knew that their were consequences. God is Just so He had to implement those consequences or else He would no longer be Just. So, He sent His only begotten Son into the world to become a Man. He lived as a sinless man, which made Him the only One that could die for the sins of all men(because he had no sins to die for of His own). The Father sacrificed the Son so that He could implement the consequence of sin. When Christ died He destroyed death because He is God and God cannot die, therefore death was defeated.

Then the Father sent the Holy Spirit into our souls because we had been made pure again through faith in Christ's death. When we become one with the Holy Spirit we become one with God(Father Son and Holy Spirit) because they are One God, and through that oneness we can never die because God can not die.

I hope this helps you some

Peace-

In the old testament (before Jesus), God set down all these laws that Gods people had to live by. They had to offer sacrfices (pure animals) to bridge the gap between God and the people (ie. the animals took on the punishment for what the people did wrong, it was a compensation for their wrong).
God chose pure animals because God is pure and the people were not, the pure animals were the closest thing to purity (pure = without sin).

These offerings were still not enough and had to happen regulary because they were still only animals and the people could not obey all of the laws that were set out. :preach: :liturgy:

So then Jesus came, so that the people didnt have to 'work' for their salvation. He was perfect and pure, the only human that was pure (with out sin) and so He was the ultimate sacrufice for us.

So that now we are free from the 'laws' and do not have to work for our salvation. We are now living under Gods grace for us, so that He (when we are christians) sees us, it is through Jesus ie. as clean, and right with Him.

Jesus had to die and then rise again to get the 'keys of death' from hell (the enemy).

So in summary: :D
A perfect God, needed a perfect saccrifice (could only be Jesus), to make uo for an imperfect world. :amen:

Sorry so long hope it helped!

This is one of the coolest answers that I have heard to this question. In those days it was believd that God was wrathful and that sacrifices would apease him but all sacrifices were imperfect and so needed to happen regularly. Jesus was perfect and so became the one sacrifice that could perfectly appease God. However (and this is where it gets interesting) what if you think about it this way, God is not wrathful, we are. Jesus died to appease OUR anger at God to allow us to get over it and have a realationship. (I take no credit for that one, it was given at a lecture I attended recently)

i know sin separates us from God and forgiveness is the only way through what jesus did on the cross ,BUT WHAT WAS THE ACTUAL TRANSACTION THAT TOOL PLANCE ON THE CROSS
Jesus offered to take the sin of anyone who asked it of him. Instead of my sin condeming me to death instead Jesus accepted it and the death for me. Basically when Satin wanted to claim me for himself Jesus stepped in front and said "No! leave him out of this. Take me instead" Only thing is he broke away from Satin (ressurection) and so Satin traded my soul for Jesus and ended up having neither.
