  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

After growing up in Texas, I absolutely love Michigan's weather. We get four full, distinct seasons and each one has pros and cons.

Spring- I love spring because winters are usually cold and long. It's less the cold, I can deal with that, and more the lack of sunlight. Spring signals longer days and warmer temps. I'm most comfortable in temps between 55-70 degrees, and it's mostly between these temps through June.

Summer- It can get hot and muggy in the summer, but surrounded by the Great Lakes, it keeps a lot of heat out that you might find in other states like Minnesota. The warmest average temp in the summer is 82 and for the most part, it stays between 70-85. There may be a week or so where it's 90 and above. This summer was unusually hot with a lot of 90s, but that's abnormal. A few summers ago there were a lot of 60s and much cooler, which I loved. There's a lot of fun stuff going on around summer, like festivals, fairs, family gatherings, bonfires, BBQs, etc, and it's usually comfortable enough to enjoy it.

Autumn- This is my favorite season. The temps fall back down into my comfortable range. Fall colors are absolutely STUNNING this time of year. There's football, pumpkin spice, the start of the holiday season, and so much more.

Winter- this is my least-favorite season. I don't really mind snow before Christmas, but after the New Year, it's sort of dreary. The Great Lakes actually help keep the state a little bit warmer than surrounding areas. The problem with that is, it creates a lot of cloud cover. Moisture is created over the lakes and winds push the clouds inland. That makes for dreary days because there's little color. The ground is white, the sky is white, the trees are bare and it's that way for 3-4 months straight.

At the start of winter, the sun goes down at around 4:30-5 and I get SAD disorder bad. Last winter the coldest/snowiest winter on record. This winter is slated to be an El Nino year, so they're calling for an above-average winter temp wise and drier conditions, so hopefully there's more sun.

"Cool" thread idea, pun intended. =P

I don't really enjoy the Spring or Summer seasons either, especially here in Texas were it's usually hot and humid most of the time. But, I do love the Fall and especially Winter. I so look forward to the cooler weather throughout the year, as well as holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. The heat has been quite intense as of late, which makes it difficult to be outside for extended periods of time. But, the drop in temperature with the latter seasons means more time to spend outside, getting to enjoy the fireplace and outdoor burn pit, no mosquitoes, having a Fall and Winter garden, etc. A few things I do enjoy with the warmer seasons are the thunderstorms and spending time at the beach / water parks, but that's about it. ^_^

The only thing I miss about Texas, besides the food, are the spring/summer thunderstorms.

For some reason fall is so much more magical than all the others. I like summer a lot. Spring is nice, and winter is... there. But fall is not just enjoyable, it seems meaningful as well.

I don't like thunderstorms, and that's a big reason why I prefer cooler weather. :sorry: The bugs, general noisiness, and the heat making it hard to sleep are problems too.
Cooler weather is da bomb. I hate bugs too. :ant::confused:

Yeah, eventually I would like to move up north somewhere though....maybe towards the panhandle lol.

That's just more desert and grass. You need to move to the great white north! Like, you know, Michigan :D

Summer- Living in Arizona. since I moved away from the hot deserts of the Phoenix area, I enjoy summers much more because it is much milder up here. Summer is fun for boating/wakeboarding, etc. It can also be quite productive time.
Fall- among my favorite season. Love the colors, love the milder weather, my favorite time of year to do road trips and winter is close.
Winter- Love winters here, they are mild and normally plenty of snow in the mountains less than an hour away. I love to snowboard and the ski area is nice. So, winters are a close second
Spring- my least favorite time of year due to it get windy here but, still not bad just, my least favorite.

Summer - no jackets ever needed, even at night, longer days
Fall - cooling down weather, changes, apples, beginnings - like school, halloween, thanksgiving, baking
Winter - cooler weather, jackets sometimes, rain, christmas, new years, new flowers

it was just recently that i experienced having the full four seasons lol...
when i was a kid i grew up in a tropical climate it was like always 80 degress, during my teens, moved to the north of the asian country me and my fam was in, where the weather was always around high 60s to low 50s, verry foggy and rainy weather. Then when migrated to Hawaii, back to tropical weather that ranged 70s to 80s. Lol, but here in NC, i really like the pre fall and fall weather, spring is okay too except for the pollen. But yeah fall just feels so special, ya get to wear boots and scarf and there's this warm fuzzy feeling going around, and the orangey brown theme, the breeze, the smell of trees shedding their leaves...aaaahhhh....lol
winter is nice too, there's a quietness watching snow fall down. I like stormy weather/season too, i like the sound of rain and thunder, good time to read something and the smell of rain gives me this mysterious feeling lol. man, i can go on and on...but ill stop here hahaaha
