According to another thread, thugs would not get clothes from Hot Topic....Except, you're talking to people who have military training, emergency services training, and / or prior experience handling emergency situations.
Not random thugs and punks who think they're tough because they caught a sale at Hot Topic.
You have that training, and a major component of that training is communication. You are not part of a team responding to a situation, thus you should limit your involvement as this increases the danger to you and others. Get people to safety, if attacked defend yourself, but don't run to stop a shooting with your gun.
Police literature even supports this idea, getting involved should be a last resort: http://policelink.monster.com/train...ps-for-officers-engaged-in-off-duty-incidents
Just because you have training does not mean you should get involved in the situation, your involvement may cause bigger problems.
