Where in the world is Christ at in this show? I believe it has become proper to take Christ out of all Christian based television shows. Are these actors and actress's really Christians. You remember that the oldest sister Jessica Beil, posed almost nude in a magazine over a year ago. I hope I am not being to judgemental, I would be a bit understanding if she would confess her short-comings. I guess the only thing I can look at is Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Just because a TV show has the word "heaven" in its title and has a (former? I haven't watched the show in a long time) pastor as a character doesn't make it a "Christian" show. IMO, its a little persumptuous to think so.

I'm sure you can find plenty on the Christian channels :)

Well, it's just not a Christian show. It's done by people who might think they know what Christianity is, but they obviously don't.

If I recall correctly I read somewhere that Jessica did eventually regret her decision to pose in that magazine, and that's why she wanted off the show, because she felt guilty being a role-model with that hanging over her head. Don't know how true that is. but that's what I read.

So you are saying that just because a church has the word Christ on the sign, it doesn't make it a Christian Church. I'm sure that there are many non-Christians that watch this show, that brings them inspiration and maybe hope. Is 7th Heaven maybe giving people the wrong impression of what Christianity is all about-

Me and my kids enjoy this show. Not because it's a 'Christian' show but because its just fun to watch.

I don't know how it's giving anyone the wrong impression of what Christianity is all about because there is no such thing as a 'typical Christian' anyway. It's just another family show who's father happens to be a minister. It's not trying to evangelize or convert, just entertain.

A syllogism:
Unbelievers understand nothing of God, and find the Gospel foolishness (1 Cor. 1:18).
Unbelievers decide they want to do a show about a pastor and his family.
Said show will show no understanding of God.

Not even talking about the actors (who are more than likely also unbelievers), the story-line for the show is secular, since the writers find Truth foolishness, and a person shouldn't approach this show by thinking it's theologically accurate. Here I could go into where the show digresses from Scripture, but why take up the space? There's little/no Truth in the show, and it shouldn't be approached as such since it's written by people who have no understanding of God.

That is very persumptuous to assume that requires hard evidence.

Do not the Mormons do this?

Again, this is a persumptuous accusation that merits hard evidence.

The show is simply about a family. Regardless that a character is a (former?) pastor and the show has the word "heaven" in it, it doesn't necessarily make it a Christian show or attempts to show what Christianity is all about. I think people are taking the title way too literally; "heaven" can be as much as asymbolic term of bliss, happiness, peace, etc as it is a literal name of the Afterlife.

My point exactly.

Just because the show may be secular does not mean the actors, actresses, writers, producers...even the clothes designers...aren't Christians. This is a truly wild claim that has no basis. Most likely in fact, it bears false witness.

I'll repeat what I posted above as it seems appropriate to do:

...people are taking the title way too literally...

ok....

does it matter if they are or not?

You remember that the oldest sister Jessica Beil, posed almost nude in a magazine over a year ago.
That has nothing to do with the show. She doesn't write it. She doesn't preach all she does is get payed for being a character.

I hope I am not being to judgemental,
no of course not [/sarcasm]

I would be a bit understanding if she would confess her short-comings.
why? will it make your life any better? will you be able to sleep better at night?

I guess the only thing I can look at is Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
quoting that totally contradicts your post.

I just think it's a dumb show. I've only watched it once or twice, but they didn't act like a minister's family. Like the one I saw was about prayer and even though the kids had supposedly grown up around their dad and the church it was like they didn't know how to pray and then they thought they could just pray for whatever they wanted like a girlfriend or boyfriend and they would get it, but when it didn't happen they decided they would never pray again. I don't know it just didn't seem believable for a minister's family, and the kids all had dumb problems, and i wasn't entertained, lol.

This is just my opinion, I know I do not speak for others. I love Star trek, so i know what it is like to enjoy a show and have others trash talk it. Anyways, now that I have said that...

I detest this show. I do not understand how someone can watch this show without feeling the urge to vomit. it is like eating cotton candy, it is ok to have a little, but eventually it is so sweet that you just want to hurl.

In response to the OP, I find 7th Heaven sadly disturbing. It USED to be a good show when it 1st came out and now ? Now, it's sad. They are supposed to be a Christian family and the father was a pastor. Now on the show... The church's new pastor makes out with and gets sexually involved with chicks (now 2 of them) who are not even married to him. And the last chick had a boyfriend. He makes out w/the girls in public. He has no characteristics becoming of a pastor.

There's just so much NOT RIGHT about this show. Every now and then, they show Mister Camden look up and say something to God, but that does not make up for all the other TRASH they show in this show. There is no Christ in this show. There was at one time, but now ? I can't find Him.

 Gee, didn't know about that. I am glad I stopped watching it so long ago. Terrible. Bad enough that the daughters were always drooling over boys.

After that it went downhill cause the shows consisted of making out, flings with bad boys and stuff that isn't the typical family.
Those flings always ended badly. You can't always show the dangers of something by simply preaching against it. Sometimes you gotta show the bad itself in order to make the point more effective.

Granted, the show does not let pastors be . . . pastor-like enough sometimes, but it's important to remember that pastors are people too, and they aren't perfect. And if you're going to blast a show for portraying an imperfect pastor, then I think that's just a bit silly.
