I agree with you whole heartedly! You start by requiring able bodied people to work,no work no benefits, requring someone to at least do something is not cruel or unchristian....if they have children you feed their children, not them.
My mom talked like this back in the 60s. She said that it used to be, in the mid-west, that people would be put to work in the fields if they needed extra help. I think she called them work farms.
I don't even necessarily think they would have to be making money. Some people don't have the skills or the availability of jobs to work. BUT they could get them by being in a voluntary position where they get skills. Single moms could be working together taking care of other single moms kids in a regulated daycare environment, while other moms went to school or worked in internships with businesses. They could be cleaning other working moms homes. There are many ways to encourage people to do better and get skills that they need.
One of my girls got an internship job, in her field, over the summer when she was in college. When she graduated they immediately hired her in a full-time position.
We could get people off welfare if we would just use some creative ideas and their kids would have a good influence in their lives.
If that is true then all the more reason to have people who understand.....???
in congress, "money" is god. how would little gods taking care of big god MONEY help ? that's why the country and the world is in trouble.
Because CPAs understand Money and taxes. They understand budgeting within what is available to budget. Most lawyers do not have that skill set, most people do not understand taxes. So why should they be writing tax laws?
Churches have to budget and they ones who succeed at that have people who know how to budget.
Companies who succeed have people who understand budgets, investments, etc. That is why they pay BIG bucks for people who do, CFOs, financial controllers, accountants, and department heads.
If this country's money was in the hands of people like corporations have, this country wouldn't be financially broke. Well that, and stopping corporate welfare, corporate prisons, and getting into wars to feed the oil industry and corporations such as Halliburton.
