  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The rest of us trust the King James bible. We trust what has been passed down generation to generation, the textus receptus. We dont care about the Hebrew.
Well you should care about the Hebrew, and Aramaic, seeing the OT of the King James Bible was translated from those writings. Frankly I surprised a King James only person does not know this.

James gave the translators instructions intended to ensure that the new version would conform to the ecclesiology and reflect the episcopal structure of the Church of England and its belief in an ordained clergy.[6] The translation was done by 47 scholars, all of whom were members of the Church of England.[7] In common with most other translations of the period, the New Testament was translated from Greek, the Old Testament from Hebrew and Aramaic, and the Apocrypha from Greek and Latin.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_James_Version

And the LXX was translated by the Jews from the Hebrew Tanach for their own Hellenized people that spoke Koine Greek.

Be glad to when people quit suggesting, however vague and veiled it may be,that they are better than you because you disagree with them
The Bible says to consider everyone better then you. The last shall be first and the first shall be last. If you want to be great in the Kingdom of God then you need to be a servant to all. Jesus came to serve, not to be served. He came to set an example for us to follow on how we are to live our lives.

I would prefer the mods not shut the thread over personal bickering; it is an interesting discussion......

In places where there is little homeownership or business ownership, there is little community ownership. They haven't burned down "their" neighborhood, because it not "theirs". In large part, they don't care because they don't own it, and they wont have to pay to repair it. You wont see black home or business owners out there torching the city.

This is a large part of why and how the system is flawed at its foundation. There is no ownership. There is no personal responsibility. There is no motivation to care. There is no motivation to thrive.
you could add to that there's no motivation to work either.
so long as society hands out free food and free health care and free public housing and free education, it's no wonder that they think everthing else should be free too.

The government controls the schools. The inner city should be getting a better education then what they are getting. Obama graduated from Harvard and this is what we end up with? Under trump they want to return control of the education back to the states. I wonder how that is going to work out. My guess is that they will keep screwing it up like they have been screwing it up for a very long time now. 20% of the teachers are good 20% of the students are good. What about the other 80%? What are we going to do with them. They are losing their jobs overseas because we can not compete anymore. We had a foreign exchange student from China and he was amazed that no one at the High School was taking anything serious.

The Feds mess up nearly everything. They should not tell the States what to do regrading education.

The biggest problem is we have liberals running the system. Unions are of little help. In some places, teachers sit in rooms, play cards, take naps, and just hang out all day. They are getting full salaries. They are terrible in the classroom but can't be fired. So they get paid to do nothing. Thanks to liberals running the unions.

I've taught for nearly 30 years. We keep reinventing the wheel. Now we have a new approach to math. I teach art but sometimes am called to sub in a classroom when we are short on subs. I cannot understand the math even at a 1st grade level. The instructions were seven pages long for something as simple as adding two digit numbers (or whatever it was). I couldn't do it. It took me ten minutes just to figure out what skill was being addressed. Finally I just did it my way and guess what? The kids caught on. But according to the "math experts" they did it incorrectly. Stupid. Even if you get the correct answer but failed to use the proper procedure, you get an F.

It's worse in the poorest neighborhoods. It's one huge mess. And we can thank every politician for that. Nothing will change when we keep doing the same thing over and over.

The Government could always mandate that a person needs a job to receive those benefits. Not everyone wants a free ride. Myself I don't care what people do. I just wanted to share my thoughts on love and unity in the Church.

Good advice. My son worked construction jobs while going to school. There are presently no jobs in his field but he is now an experienced concrete finisher making $35 an hour with great benny's.
All four of my kids worked their way through college. Both my two oldest worked construction while getting their BS, and one of them is a woman! She has even built her own oak furniture. By profession she is an accountant.
My son had to change over and work in a restaurant when he moved on to an education in medicine.
My other two, one waited tables and the other worked in a store.
Where I live concrete workers do not make close to $35 per hr. or have much for benefits unless they are supervisors. AND very little concrete gets poured in the winter, it is much too cold, so many construction companies do not provide even group medical ins. for their labors, only the top few who they don't lay off in the winter.
How about Biblical recognition that all government of man will be wiped out when/after Yeshua returns
just as Israel had no government of man before they sinfully desired a government like other countries had ? (and they were punished for it)
They had Judges that took care of disputes, until they wanted a King like other nations had. They had many, Joel, Abdon, Gideon, Deborah, Samuel, etc. They, the nations, were never really without some form of government that I know of.

I agree. One problem with the able-bodied "poor" is that they aren't poor enough. The government keeps people dependent on its crumbs, and in so doing, enslaves them. If they were truly poor and hungry, they would be busy trying get find work in order to survive, and at the same time find the self-respect and dignity they so desperately need.

In the same way, the government keeps all people begging for scraps of freedom, they keep promising them liberty but all they give is a yoke of political slavery to the system. People fear losing their money and their life and so they have lost it already. They become slaves to anxiety, contention, fear, and money. They are not poor enough to work for the food that never spoils.

When they obeyed Yhwh, they did well (He blessed them).
When their trust was put in man, Yhwh cursed them.
Yhwh told the prophet "the people have not rejected you, they have rejected me ruling over them"
same(or similar) as it is written in the NT when people(leaders)(religious) thwarted Yhwh's Plan for their lives by rejecting Yhwh and rejecting who He sent.

Paul teaches that the Church Judges itself, and God judges the outside world himself.

I'm not talking about states. I'm talking about us.

Why not start a thread...call it "its all about us" this one is about governments attempt, rather successful I might add,to enslave the people through dependence...it seems they should have a discussion folder here they could call "We're Christians so it doesn't matter" each thread would have two messages, the topic, followed by response that it doesn't matter.

The Republican Party is not Gods holy party of righteous men. They will not establish Gods holy law on earth and spread righteousness throughout the land.

agreed. all 3 of my kids got jobs when they were still in high school. and from it they all learned that physical work was much harder than going to school all day. we gave them enough allowance to pay for their lunch and school supplies, but if they wanted anything else, they had to find work and pay for it themselves.
boy did they find out in a hurry that there's a reason why it's called 'work'!

Once they got over the shock of that, they learned well and they used the skills they deveoped in those entry jobs to find other jobs. today all 3 are self supporting and well respected by their peers because they know how to work hard.

Ok,can anyone tell me where this came from....amazing absolutely amazing, one of the common accusations thrown at Christianity by the secular world is that its just another way to check out....my experiences here so far lend some credibility to that claim...but hey there are times when I would like to check out to.

Well I have four kids that could be this way, why aren't they? Three of them because they got a good education, they don't need any any help. The fourth because she has us to help her when she needs it. But many kids in poor communities, inner city, don't have a tradition of going beyond high school or even finishing high school, in their families.

My son said to me when he was still in high school, Who do the inner city poor kids see that have any money for anything? The drug dealers!! So who do you think they will emulate? Drug dealers.

So if they don't see people with jobs making a living wage in their communities from the time they are born most will think that there is no other way but what their parents have done.

It is the same in the poor white in the South. Most will do what they were raised to do, what they saw. It is a life-style they have always known and are comfortable with.

So do you have any suggestions for how we can change these debilitating life-cycles?

Also we know that violence is a virus that spreads from one generation to the next, if the cycle is not broken.

Edit: Sorry I didn't see your previous post!

I thought it was better to not take sides in a war of hate, but to instead invite people into the kingdom where love is supposed to overcome evil. You believe arguing and passing laws is better though. Ok you win. Have it your way.

You start by requiring able bodied people to work,no work no benefits, requring someone to at least do something is not cruel or unchristian....if they have children you feed their children, not them.
