Some men in the OT were rich, but that's OC. Those men were given carnal blessings that were a shadow of the spiritual blessings that came with Christ in the NC promise. Our riches are in heaven not earth. Our riches are fruit of the spirit and the ministration of the spirit. John the Baptist was not rich and the Lord said he was the greatest man ever to live, yet he also said whoever is least in the kingdom is greater than he is. The least in the kingdom are not financially wealthy. "Let him who has ears hear" (Remember that saying as you read these scriptures)
Remember those rich men in the OT? See here-
Matthew 13:16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear. 17 For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. 18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:
Rich men in fine clothes? No sir. The least are the greatest.
Matthew 11:7 As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. 9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written:
“‘I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.’[c]
11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence,[d] and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.
