The problem is not how the Christian church responds to the one incident. We have a much, much larger problem on our hands. Jesus would want the perpetrators of this crime brought to justice.
Which church are you referring to?
The Church of Jesus Christ.
Europe can barely go 48 hours now without an Islamist terror attack, clearly indicating that the entire continent is being subverted by Islam while the media and political class still insist that the attacks have nothing to do with the millions of Muslim migrants that have poured into the continent over the last year.
This is in a Christian-only area of the forum.
We who are Christians should agree that there is a spiritual realm, and in that realm are spirits loyal to our King Jesus and spirits on this earth who are in rebellion to Him and are our enemies.
We who are Christians should understand that there is prayer, that prayer is power in the spiritual realm, and that spiritual beings respond to prayer.
We who are Christians should realize that there are people--extremely religious people--who get on their knees five times a day and pray earnestly for the will and power to do incredible evil, evil that is beyond the ability of men alone to sustain on their own. And there are spiritual beings answering their prayers.
Christians should...but Christians aren't yet because we have not realized that spiritual powers--enabled by evil prayer--are at work, and we're still hoping for a material cavalry to come to the rescue.
No, in fact, Christians have not realized that principalities are in motion and have not met the threat of thousands of evil prayers head-to-head with equally earnest prayer of our own.
THIS.
Well, there are the monasteries. Though, yes, today, there aren't many of them, and they aren't very full. And in all honesty, I must admit that they probably aren't praying "head-to-head" against these evil prayers. The angels don't get enough attention or enough importuning in our prayers these days.
God helps us. This event reminds me of the heyday of Christian persecution in the first few centuries. I remember reading about a pope being beheaded during Mass in the catacombs...can't remember which one. But right in front of everyone, too, and the nuns being assaulted like someone mentioned. It is monstrous what's happening. I absolutely believe Muslims are worshipping and driven by the enemy. If we don't respond with requisite outrage and repudiation, this is only going to get worse. There's something unnatural as well as unholy about the lack of instinctual defense and preservation of self and fellows -- even women and children (!) -- on the part of so many Europeans (and many Americans).
Ok, lets go there then. Forgive my approach here but its in the interest of truth. If the priest would have done what you say in the first place, then we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Why did the priest stand by and do nothing? Why wasn't he armed? Should he stand by and allow a nun to be raped and killed? Why did he do nothing?
We cant have our cake and eat it too. If you are going to call for war then get your own hands dirty first. Don't expect that a priest can sit by and do nothing, while staying pure and clean, while the rest of us our expected to get dirty
Europe has been hit by yet another terror attack as two Islamists stormed a church in Normandy, France and beheaded a Catholic priest before being shot dead by police.
The attackers entered the church in the town of Saint Etienne du Rouvray at around 9am this morning local time during mass before taking six hostages, including the pastor, two nuns and several worshippers.
One of the nuns was reportedly able to escape and alert authorities. After a gunfight, police announced that the terrorists had been neutralized.
It was initially reported that the priest had his throat slit, but he was actually beheaded. Another parishioner was wounded, with other injuries likely.
Police soon confirmed that the attack had an Islamist motive.
According to authorities, “at least one of the two hostage-takers had a beard and one wore a traditional Muslim cap.”
The hostages also reportedly shouted “jihad” during the rampage.
French President Francois Hollande and the Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve are already on their way to the area.

Imagine if we didn't overreact in the news cycle and give them the attention they want, creating the fear they want us to have, making it appear they are much larger than they are? That's the motive behind the apparent soft response from politicians. Heck, we've had more murders this month in Chicago then those idiots have pulled of all year.
To me there is a difference between what the church should do and what civil government should do. Those in the church should pray. That is the job of the church. The French Republic, on the other hand, should take action against ISIS.

For neo-Islamic fundamentalist it's a religious war, another attempt at an Islamic revolution. For the modern secular state it's an issue of crime and handled within the law. Political leaders can restate our better ideals but beyond that we just have to continue to handle the savages as best we can without giving them the attention they crave.Europe has been hided its head in the sand for many years. It fails to report and/or downplays these things when they can get away with it, and that has only made things worse.
What do you want me to do? Hunt him down? What sort of fantasy world do you live in? If I saw him, I would call the police. I am not an officer. I wouldn't outright put my hands on the guy unless I saw him trying to snatch a kid. I don't what sort of strange fantasy world where you send your own justice upon people, but you need help.If a serial child molester were in your town, please let me know how you would pray, but take no action to protect innocent children from being raped.
here is what I think Jesus would have us doA Church representing Jesus Christ was attacked. How would Jesus have the Christian Church respond?
here is what I think Jesus would have us do
He would have us pray for the attacker and the victim
He would have us comfort the family of the victim, and be merciful and comfort the family of the attacker
He would want to police track down and arrest those who helped plan the attack, using measured force, not being brutal, but also being strong and precise enough that you do not put your fellow officers or civilians at extra risk
He would want a fair and unbiased court to try those who helped plan the attack
He would want them jailed as punishment for their crimes
(oh a spiritual note Jesus wants those who helped plan to the attacks to repent of their sins and follow Him, but you asked how the Christian Church should respond, and these guys are muslims so that is kind of outside the parameters of your question)
thank you sir
a lot of people ask "what would Jesus do" but Jesus knows that we have different obligations and responsibilities then He did
one thing I keep in mind is St. John the Baptist, tax collectors and soldiers came out to John in the wilderness, the prophet did not tell them to abandon their jobs
he said to do their jobs faithfully, not to oppress the poor, be honest with their work
Jesus prophesied that very thing concerning tribulation for Christian followers of Jesus:Europe has been hit by yet another terror attack as two Islamists stormed a church in Normandy, France and beheaded a Catholic priest before being shot dead by police..............
