  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Considering that border ranches are overrun with illegal aliens, and assaulted by drug gangs, stopping the problem is probably foremost on their minds. And it doesn't matter. private land or not, inevitably there is right of way. I don't even think it is an eminent domain issue.

So the best way to keep the illegals from allegedly overruning their land is to hand it over to the federal government?

Have you ever actually talked to a Texan?

Indeed. It is all but unfettered passage now.

Must be some of those alternative facts we've all heard so much about.

So... you're agreeing that our border is effectively managed?

no, they don't.

The facts disagree with you.

It isn't law enforcement. It is border protection. That falls under military aegis. Military protocol. We may treat it as law enforcement, but it is legitimately a military jurisdiction. The only in-country military jurisdiction.

Wrong on so many levels -- Illegal immigration is just that -- illegal. It's right there in the name. That makes it a legal matter for federal law enforcement.

Well, that was simple, wasn't it?

And if it was treated as a militarized zone, we wouldn't have this problem.

Yes, yes... shoot on sight, and all that...

Physical challenges; the political/economic ones are another kettle of fish.

5 challenges Trump may face building a border wall

Their bullet points; my commentary.

I will solve all of your "problems". Watch.

1. The terrain is very rough in some areas
Anywhere Trump can't build a wall easily is going to add delays and expenses... anywhere he can't build it at all is going to be a gap which needs to be covered... somehow.

Bears. With guns. You're welcome!

2. Unlike the Western border states, most of Texas is privately owned
Trump's no stranger to "eminent domain," so let's see how Texas reacts to being on the wrong end of it from President Trump.

"This is some nice land you've got here. It would be a shame if anything were to happen to it."

3. Most of the border is natural, but a human-made barrier is not
Just going to build a wall along the river, eh? Have we forgotten that rivers flood?

Yes. Next!

4. Surveillance makes the barrier effective
Obvious, really -- 2,000 miles of wall is going to require 2,000 miles of 24/7 surveillance... will Mexico be paying for that, too? Another Spanish I.O.U. in Trump's handwriting?

Bears. With guns. And binoculars. You're welcome!

5. Migrants are determined and often have few options
Having already established that a wall is not the solution to the majority of our illegal immigration woes, Trump seems to be relying heavily on the "intimidation factor" in it -- but considering that many illegal border crossers are either seriously desperate to get away from something, or worse, drug cartel mal hombres, there's very little to be intimidated by.

We'll relocate all of our drug cartels to those spaces along the border, to force them back the other way. You're welcome.

I think all of our wall problems are solved.

You have been watching too much MSNBC. :-(
What does that mean? I'm guessing that means that I made a good point and made you rethink your opinion.
For the record, I watch no MSNBC, none, zero. MSNBC is responsible for too many erroneous opinions on this forum (in my own opinion).

Hi Douger, I was just kidding. I have no real idea what you watch. I would have to say that many times how people think and emulate is very much tied into the leftest media and you are correct they do spread erroneous blather.

Well, having been corrected, it certainly looks like you're going to have to go off script to address posts, not posters.

Well known fact, Mexicans can't use ladders or ropes.

How are they at pole vaulting?

True, but when all one has is a load, humor doesn't help much.

That is according to who is the one. We don't know who will take a joke until we find out. The easiest way to find out is to "crack" one.
