Considering that border ranches are overrun with illegal aliens, and assaulted by drug gangs, stopping the problem is probably foremost on their minds. And it doesn't matter. private land or not, inevitably there is right of way. I don't even think it is an eminent domain issue.
So the best way to keep the illegals from allegedly overruning their land is to hand it over to the federal government?

It isn't law enforcement. It is border protection. That falls under military aegis. Military protocol. We may treat it as law enforcement, but it is legitimately a military jurisdiction. The only in-country military jurisdiction.
Wrong on so many levels -- Illegal immigration is just that -- illegal. It's right there in the name. That makes it a legal matter for federal law enforcement.

And if it was treated as a militarized zone, we wouldn't have this problem.
