40 Day Cycle

Well, after my first month of charting, I have realized that I ovulated on Day 28, and have a 40 day cycle! It's so long! (I was on the pill for a few years, and don't remember how long my cycle was before, as I was a teenager, and really had no reason to keep track!)
I feel like my body is cheating me on chances to get pregnant- having to wait 40 whole days...
Anyone else have really long cycles?

You might find with a long cycle that you actually ovulate twice each cycle.

Alternately, there are plenty of natural therapies, as well as medications, out there that can help to regulate your cycle. Have you spoken to a doctor about your cycle length? It might be worthwhile!

Not yet. I'm still thinking my cycle might be off because of BC pills... We want to start trying this summer, so if my cycles still seem unpredictable about May, I'll bring them in to my doc.

Do a google search and see what you can come up with - there are all sorts of things out there that might help - it just depends a little on what you are prepared to try.

A "normal" naturopath will have some herbal remedies that might help - they could be used as a preliminary (or alternative) to modern fertility treatments.

I know that Traditional Chinese Medicine claims quite a lot of success in helping women regulate their cycles and go on to conceive healthy babies through acupuncture and various Chinese herbs.

Also, look out for "A Natural Way to Better Babies" by Francesca Naish. She basically talks about a total "detox" in order to regulate your cycle and fall pregnant. To me it is common sense - cut out caffeine, alcohol, drugs of any kind, eat healthy foods and exercise regularly. Her approach is more "hard core" than that, but it depends on how far you want to go. Giving your body time to recover from many years of BC would probably be a good start!

I know that some Christians also have problems with some alternative therapies as they see them as "of the devil". I am not sure where you stand on that! Do what you are comfortable doing!

I don't have personal experience with needing to regulate my cycles, but I have used Chinese medicine to combat post natal depression, and also to help prevent morning sickness. I prefer "natural" remedies where possible, rather than using modern drugs - I think they tend to be far more gentle on our bodies.

I am sorry if that is a little vague! PM me though if you think I might have some more specific, and useful advice for you!

UGH! My chart was wrong, which I kinda thought. Now it looks like I ovulated on Day 28, which is consistent from last cycle. Bad news is, now I am on day FORTY THREE! I thought forty was bad! If I don't get it by Friday, I think I'll take a Pregnancy Test, though I don't think we even did the BD during my fertile time, so I am pretty sure it will be negative, as we decided not to try last month, since I didn't know about my job.
If it's negative, which I think it will be, do you think I should see my doctor about my long cycles? They are making me MAD :(

My cycles were about 38-40 days long. The one constant thing for me was the LP. It was pretty much always 6 days (from memory) ANd yes it is still possible to fall pregnant with longer cycles.

I'm lucky in that once they settled after coming off BCP, (It took about 18 months), even though they were long, I pretty much had the consistancy of when I O'd, my fertile times, the length of my LP, and my breasts would get sore during the LP, and then the day before my period would arrive, they would stop hurting!

My cycles are so variable I have no clue when I'll ovulate. If I'm lucky they'll be as little as 60 days, but usually they are 90 days or more. I'm not sure what to do about it.
