greenjeans:
the 3 questions I have , they have been bothering me since january.
Wow, that must be quite frustrating!
1) does god hate woman? it appears that way with the painful child birth and the fact that only mens names are used when showing family genology. it seems woman are just baby making machine that did not matter.
No, God does not hate women. When God created Eve from Adam's side He created her equal. The word "helper" that is used in some translations is, is not used in the sense that she is a slave to the man, rather that there is equity. The woman is equal with the man on God's sight. In fact, after creating man, God said that it was not good, so He created a woman. Both literally true and a light hearted joke at the same time.
As as already been explained, the pains during child birth are God's justice - His punishment - for Eve's rebellion. Adam also got punished too, see
Genesis 3:17-19. Diseases and other mutations get us both because God has loosened His sustaining power over His creation as a result of our rebellion to give us a taste of life without Him.
The genealogies only showing men has nothing to do with God, but everything to do with the Hebrew culture of that day.
2) the book of laws lays out the law of god and it states the food in which we should not eat pork being one of them. so I quit eating pork? my husband who is a believer says that is not so because of jesus? well?
No, those commandments were given to the Israelites and not for the Gentiles (non-Jews) to seperate them as God's chosen people from the pagan cultures around them.
3) do you have to believe both testaments? because it seems that pastor/preacher take scripture from both testaments but i am of the believe it is not an alacarte thing i think you have to believe both?
Well, they were written by the same God and both carry the same level of authority. I believe the Bible to be the Inspired Written Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) and as such I believe that it contains no errors, no contradictions, and so on. You see, the Old Testament and the Ten Commandments were a foretaste (foreshadow), that is, a taste of things that were to come, in Christ when He fulfilled the law. They were setting up for Christ and His offer of salvation to all nations, not just the Israelites.
But no, you don't have to believe what the Bible says on some matters, e.g. the Old Testament,
to receive salvation from Christ; but I will tell you, it
will strengthen your faith when you come under attack if you do believe everything that God says in His Word. As as already been explained by
romecoming, the Old Testament sets up for the New Testament explain why we need a saviour from our sins, why all mankind are sinners, and so on.
If you think about it, reading a book from about half way into it makes it quite difficult to understand, right? I mean, given enough time you slowly catch on. This is what it is like with just the New Testament. When we read the Old Testament, Genesis in particularly, we find out why the events in the Gospels had to happen and the entire Bible becomes easier to understand, just like reading a book from the beginning. You're not generally caught asking, "Why did that happen?"
if that is true the upper questions on women way heavily on my mind.
I can imagine... But don't worry, both men and women are equal in God's sight. He looks at
who (your character and personality) you are, not what you are and what you look like.
thank you I. I really want to become a believer but have no one to answer my questions.
Anytime you struggle with things in the Bible, you're welcome to post your questions here and we'll do our best to answer them. You may also consider praying about and looking at commentaries on the passage. Just go to
Google and type "Commentary on [insert passage]" and click search.
May God be with you always and give you peace,
Sabra.
