The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. Suzy, a combination of things are helping me:
1. Prayer of release
2. Support from people like you!
3. Support from family
4. NRT gum to help with cravings
5. Threads like snerd's - scary stuff
6. The improvement in my breathing (apparent in only two days) Gratitude that I'm still alive and relatively healthy and have the chance of health for the rest of my life (not hampered by tar and the other poisons in cigs)
7. The improvement in my skin colour (more pink I'd say)
8. Being socially acceptable and being able to sit in the non-smoking section (and feeling really smug about it) also not having to go outside in the rain for a smoke (my house has been smoke free anyway for the last 3 years or so)
I could go on - it's pluses all the way, no negs at all!!
You couldn't give yourself and your family a better gift this New Year - will pray for strength for you to do it - it's not an easy thing to do, but definitely do-able, and the rewards far outweigh the cravings...

I've got a little over 3 weeks of niccotine freeness in me !!!
I would be able to say I had 4 weeks in but after 1 week of no-smoking I made the mistake of going outside with a co-worker on a smoke break...
DUH..anyways, I lit up took a drag, thought to myself "this tastes like poo-poo", took one more drag to make sure, then extinguished said cigarette, which actually made me feel better about the situation, like I am actually over the dreaded curse, and thats after going a decade strong !!!!
Anyways keep it up quiters...

I'm gonna say a prayer for everyone thinking about quitting, it feels awesome when you finally do quit...
I'll quit ranting...
