In 2nd Peter 3:2, we are to remember the words that were spoken by the holy prophets and of the “commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Savior” because some will continue to walk after their lusts (desiring to be paid to preach for their earthly things) after hearing their commandment and not obeying it.

They will not obey the commandment and will scoff at the hearing of the truth of the gospel as they will question where is the “promise” (the promise of an age-lasting life) of His coming?

Everyone (including their church fathers) has mortally died as it has been happening since the beginning of the creation.

But they do not know that they are still perishing under the judgment of God that is upon them. They do not understand the gospel as it has been hid from their understanding.

2Pe 3:2-4 KJV
(2) That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
(3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The “commandment of us apostles of the Lord and Savior” being spoken about in 2nd Peter 3:2 is that a preacher is to “with quietness” work and eat their own bread which is found in 2nd Thessalonians 3:12 .

In other words, they are to work at a job outside the church in order to support their own earthly necessities. Jesus was a carpenter. Paul was a tentmaker. Follow them in this to truly be a worker in the Gospel with understanding.

2Th 3:11-15 KJV
(11) For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
(12) Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
(13) But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

If any man does not subordinately hear OUR WORD (saying)…the commandment of the original apostles’ of Christ…. by this letter, note that man, and have no company with him.

This is the test of a “false apostle”.

“Apostle” means “sent”. They are falsely sent even though they …the “super apostles”….adamantly profess that they are sent by Christ.

The scoffers (false apostles) who will continue to walk after their own lusts/desires are then found not to be “sent” by the Lord because they will not obey the commandment of the original apostles who did bind this in earth….and so it is bound in the citizens of heaven now .

(14) And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
(15) Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

This is how we “try them” who say that they are “apostles”…sent by the Lord…and are not. They are false apostles….falsely sent.

We find them as “liars” who are saying that they are “sent” by the Lord Jesus Christ (but are not) as they will not obey the binding commandment of the apostles of our Lord and Savior to work with their own hands to support their own earthly necessities.

But we are to remember to not become weary in well doing towards them….admonishing them as brothers rather than an enemies.

Rev 2:2-3 KJV
(2) I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
(3) And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.

The original apostles did not use deceit…nor guile…in their preaching. They did not use flattering words to gain something from their listeners. They did not have a “cloak” for covetousness (speaking flattering words or biblical things as a front while being internally eager for gain). They did not seek glory from others.

They were the true apostles (sent) of Christ. They were truly sent by Him.

1Th 2:1-6 KJV
(1) For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
(2) But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
(3) For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
(4) But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

(5) For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
(6) Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

The true apostles were “allowed of God” to be put in trust with the gospel. They had the truth of the gospel in them as God allowed them to understand it.

Their words were the true sayings of God (the true Word of God) that they preached to others while the false apostles are not allowed to understand it and are not preaching it.

1Th 2:3-4 KJV
(3) For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
(4) But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

Jesus sent out His disciples with specific instructions such as those found in Matthew 10: 9 -10 .

“Provide” = Greek: ktaomai which means “acquire” or “get” by any means. Jesus sent out His disciples by saying to not ACQUIRE “gold or silver of brass” for themselves.
Neither take 2 coats….that is, use a pretext (cloak) of covetousness in order to get things. Neither shoes….a product to sell the needy. Amos 8:6 . Neither salute any man along the way…that is, use flattering words towards them in order to get gain.

The workman is worthy of his OWN meat….in other words, a laborer in the Word of God should provide for himself….to eat his own bread.

Mat 10:9-10 KJV
(9) Provide (ACQUIRE) neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

(10) Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

False apostles are “deceitful workers”. They transform themselves into the apostles (sent) of Christ. Satan himself is transformed into an “angel”….a messenger…of light….of knowledge. Yet, his ministers do not have the knowledge of the truth of the gospel with them. They are not allowed of God to be trusted with it…and so their minds are blinded to it.

2Co 11:13-15 KJV
(13) For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
(14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

The “end” of his ministers is their mortal destruction. Their “works” of so-called righteousness do not mortally save anyone. Their handwritings (their images that they are worshipping) of church dogmas do not save the mortal flesh of anyone that they are deceiving with their flattering words in order to get gain for themselves.

(15) Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

The false apostles come preaching “another Jesus”….with “another spirit”…and “another gospel”. Yet, many bear with them…they are burdened by them in their requirements to get paid, to get their earthly needs met, to get glory, etc.

2Co 11:4-7 KJV
(4) For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

(5) For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.

They use good words and beautiful speeches…..but their words are devoid of knowledge. “We”…the true apostles …”have been thoroughly made manifest among you in all things”.

(6) But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.

The false prophets charge money to preach the gospel (of which they don’t have knowledge of).

(7) Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?

Paul “showed us all things”. What they had manifested to us is to work with our own hands to support our own earthly necessities so that we can properly feed the church of God. It is more blessed to give than to receive. We then support the "weak" minds that see this and are not given the opportunity to blaspheme when we do not preach for a paycheck.

Act 20:33-35 KJV
(33) I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel.
(34) Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
(35) I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
