25 random things...

I did this on facebook and now I'm posting it here. Why? I'm hoping some of you will post 25 random things about yourself so I can get to know you all a little better.

1. I have about 8 cats 4 live indoors, and of those 2 aren't really mine.

2. I am in fact allergic to cats

3. Nope, that doesn't bother me... I've actually built up some sort of mental immunity to the dander.

4. I play the guitar... I don't think I play well, but at least I enjoy it and that's all that matters.

5. I would love to take piano lessons as well as vocal lessons.

6. Can I sing? Honestly, I don't know... sometimes I feel like the weather here has something do do with it, because sometimes I can sing smoothly and other times it feels forced.

7. I get sick a lot... more than my other siblings. But I mean like I'm the one that gets all the weird stuff. It's not just colds and fevers.

8. I love mellow music more than hard core music(although I like that, too)... I love how some musicians will add classical music. The stuff makes me feel good inside. Like I'm invisible. . .

9. I do very much think I'm weird... if you hung out with me you'd think that, too.

10. When I was younger I tried to shave my face like my dad only because I didn't really know what a razor was, and I cut my face up. Yep, it hurt.

11. Ooh, also when I was younger (when I say this I mean like maybe 4 or 5), my mom was curling my sisters hair and she put the iron down for a second and told me NOT to touch it... guess what I did? Yep, I touched it.

12. I also took a nail out of a burning fireplace. Yes, I was a very curious child.

13. I didn't have a favorite movie when I was younger like my borther and sister, turns out I was very indecisive then too.

14. I somehow always feel like I'm bothering people when I'm talking to them, whether or not it's in person or through other technology. I just feel like they're going to tell me to leave them alone.

15. Along with that terrible trait, I'm shy.

16. I secretly want to start a band and tour the world... guess it's not a secret though.

17. I love reading, and writing, but I don't so them as often as most would.

18. Photography is also a great pass time.

19. I don't like being negitive, but I fear I often am.

20. I hate politics, but I know what I belive in. I don't need someone to decide that for me.... eh, if that's even possible.

21. Nacy Drew PC games are my guilty pleasure. xD

22. I feel like those games make me more clever. Yeah, they probably don't

23. I have other things to say, but I've run out numbers.

24. I'm happy to be single... but if there's someone out there for me, please don't be afraid to approach me.

25. Which brings me to... I'm pretty old school when it comes to relationships. At least I think so.

1. I have insomnia.

2. I am a big fan of old school sea shanties. Penny whistles, ftw!

3. I like Star Wars more than Star Trek, and I only like the original 3 movies and the original series of ST. Go figure

4. I get lonely very easily.

5. Touch is the only sense I have that works properly.

6. I can't discriminate sounds, so multiple people talking to me or whatnot makes me unable to hear anyone.

7. I can't smell due to a mistake in chem lab in high school.

8. I have fairly thick glasses, and really bad sight. I can't even find my glasses most of the time if I don't remember where I put them.

9. I dislike potatoes and tomatoes in almost all their forms.

10. My favorite breads are potato and sourdough.

11. I like RPGs, both console and tabletop.

12. I never went to a school that was not a Catholic school until college.

13. I love the original Thomas the Tank Engine and Shining time Station shows.

14. My right thumb is longer but very slightly thinner than my left thumb.

15. I had chicken pox twice.

16. I never had a date, not just a girlfriend, but a DATE... until after college.

17. I had severe ADHD and depression as a child, and have been in and out of counseling my whole life.

18. I love puns.

19. I got lost in the metro in Paris when I was 14, with only french II from high school. I also found a better way to our stop than the tour guide did, after being lost, alone, in the metro, in a foreign country. Good times.

20. During and after junior high, I went on 3 week summer camps almost every summer with Johns Hopkins and CAA (If I remember the acronym rightly)

21. I have an extremely strong oral fixation, and must constantly have gum, jawbreakers, food, fingernails, etc in my mouth.

22. I have never smoked, never gotten a hangover, never done an illegal drug, even pot. And I have no interest in doing so.

23. I have 3 email accounts that I keep track of.

24. I am about to celebrate one year of being WoW free.

25. This took me a lot longer than I thought it would.

3.)I love going for walks when its snowing really hard drinking hot cocoa but it doesnt snow here that much boo!

21.) I have one brother and 2 older step brothers that I don't really know that well.

22.) I love to watch discovery health and HGTV alot.

23.) I watch Young and the Restless and tape it if I can't be home to watch it!

24.) I love to work out at the gym !

22. The ocean is my absolute favorite thing. I'd love to live by it.

23. My eyes are just green, and my littlest sister's are just blue, but my other 3 sisters all have rings of gold around their pupils.

1. I used to play alot of sports when I was younger, but most of that ended when I started smoking.

2. I play piano proficiently, compose neo-Classical and Baroque music, and also progressive rock - and have been doing so for many years. I average at least an hour a day, and somedays up to 4 or more hours just playing.

3. I make my own beer and wine, although I've just started on the latter.

4. I own one cat, and we struggle as to who runs the household.

5. I don't believe the US government's story about 911

6. I rarely watch T.V. - but do watch movies. Inn fact, the only thing I watch regularly on television is CSI, and I tape it first so as to fast foward through commercials - I passionately hate commercials.

7. I almost always have a book I'm reading.

8. I'm a food and nutrition freak...but I don't consider myself a health nut, since I do and have done things I know are harmful to my health - such as drinking to excess and smoking cigarettes.

9. Early into my adulthood, I was homeless for a few years.

10. From the age of 15-22, I did alot of narcotic substances and learned many hard lessons in life. I am fortunate to be alive and sane.

11. I get along with my family fairly well...but distance is a factor in that, we live on opposite sides of the world.

12. I regularly make my own beef jerky.

13. I am privilaged to know what it is like to have been loved by a very kind, intelligent and good woman. I am a widower.

14. I hold some unconventional veiews about Christianity, "Christian" holidays and the Resurrection, but consider myself a Christian nonetheless.

15. I'm 37, and I still like to play RPG video games like "Oblivion" and "FallOut3".

16. My favouite movie for many years was "Amadeus" - I've watched it so many times, it has influenced my life. I've wondered of late about the wisdom of this.

17. I trade futures contracts and take risks in financially dangerous markets.

18. I know how to write computer programs in C and C++, but haven't done this in many many years.

19. I love to ski and snowboard...but haven't done so in quite a few years.

20. One of my favourite books of the bible is Proverbs - I often need to be reminded of the simple wisdom therein.

My Resume doesn't reflect what I have learned and what I know - since I have learned nearly everything I know out of High School from DIY books and reading and practicing what I know in general - not in certificates or degrees. Not many people believe me when I tell them I've only had a few music lessons after hearing me play, for instance - or that I've put circuit boards together based on a "teach yourself Electronics" book, or programming based on a teach yourself C lang book.

22. I sometimes burn incense while taking a bath or reading or just relaxing.

23. I own a 12 string Stick(TM) which I have never learned to play properly.

24. I do my own oil, oil filter, air filter, spark plug changes on my car

25. I am not very organised, and although I'm trying, I feel I still need a good woman who has both multi-tasking and organisation skills to help me out here a little.

15.) I spent 5 years in total as a nanny. Best and worst experiences of my life happened as a nanny. But the parents burnt me out and I gave up that profession.

17.) My current cell phone style I have had for two years and every six months like clockwork, it breaks and I have to get a new one of the same model. I am not a fan of Alltel

2. My second major in college was religious studies but I only took one Christianity class, and the rest was all about Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism.
3. My mentor and professor was a student of Mircea Eliade, who in turn has inspired me in many ways.
4. I have a huge fan of Frida Kahlo.
5. I don’t know how to ride a bike.
6. I’m not the biggest fan of the color blue, that that is the color I use when I paint portraits.
7. Sophia Loren is born on the same day as I am. Or, I’m born on the same day she is. =)
8. I vacationed at the Black Sea for over a month when I was little.
9. I’ve been inspired by Lucian Freuds paintings.
10. I was baptized in my grandfather’s home.
11. Two members of my imitate family are Priests, and 4 who are related through marriage.
12. My best friend died of breast cancer at the age of 24.
13. When I was 4, I wanted a toy iron (I don’t know why exactly!). My parents looked for it everywhere. One day we happened to stop somewhere and I saw one. They bought me 5 toy irons. Wow, my parents are amazing.
14. My favorite cartoon growing up was DOUG.
15. I played tennis for two years.
16. I’m the oldest cousin from my dad’s side, and 4th from my mom’s side.
17. My mother shaved my head twice when I was little. EEK!
18. My grandfather helped me build a roman style house when I was in the 6th grade for a class project. It was awesome!!
19. I’m the first person to get a college degree in my family.
20. I haven’t traveled outside of the U.S in over 20 years.

22. I want to teach in three places: Argentina, Chile and/or Armenian.

12. I'm a big fan of Ravi Zacharias, John Piper, Mark Driscoll, Francis Chan, and Louie Giglio.
13. When I was a kid, I was an avid birdwatcher and could still walk out the door and identify any bird that I see just from the recall of my nerdy childhood
14. I really, really love stupid humor.
15. I have only really had three legitimate, big time crushes in my life.
16. I look forward SO much to marriage and having kids.
17. As is typical with the start of school, I've started running again.
18. I am a huge spelling and grammar nerd. For some reason, it's always just come really easily to me. A lot of times I'll re-read my posts (like I did this one ) and find spelling or grammar errors and the go back and fix them. I'm an excellent proof-reader. I also won my school spelling bee in 7th grade and then took 3rd place out of 35 kids in the regional competition...no big deal...
19. I have a huge passion for missions and tend to see my everyday life as a ministry. I also can't wait to graduate so I can get out and do ministry full-time.
20. I almost never leave my house or dorm room without my string bag which usually carries my Bible, my Bible journal, the book I'm reading at the time (right now it's God is the Gospel by John Piper), and anything else that I need.
21. I have around 36-38ish cousins and like 42ish second cousins on my mom's side of the family.
22. Fall is my favorite season!

I read every single one of these. Y'all are very interesting people. I could pick out at least two things from every post that I liked.

Ok...so I'mma give this a go.

1. I love green. Can you tell?

2. I seem to be allergic to something...I dunno what.

3. On top of being allergic to something, I have developed asthma and if I'm really bad, I get some sort of bronchitis. It's real nasty....

4. I've never broken a bone, though!

5. I play violin. I love it so much, I get giddy if I hear one or even if I see a pic of a violin...I have quite a collection on my netbook.

6. I also get giddy if I see music notes...because it's the only "language" I can read.

7. Although for some strange reason, I believe God has put it into my heart to learn modern Greek...so this should be interesting....

8. Why so interesting? Because my memory is a hit-or-miss...hopefully if it interests me much, I'll actually remember the rules and stuff.

9. Speaking of memory...sometimes I mix my dreams up with actual memories...I dunno how many times I've asked Ma if something really happened that I had dreamed up the night before.

10. I seem to have vivid dreams...as if they really happened (hence why I mix up memories and dreams...although that one about a giant tiger chasing me in a Jeep Wrangler did NOT happen. )

11. I smile rather easily...almost too easily sometimes.

12. And when I get to smiling, sometimes it's hard to stop...like my face would literally hurt from smiling so much.

13. I also laugh/chuckle/giggle/whatever else easily too. Unfortunately, due to asthma, I can't laugh really hard anymore...'cause than I'd start into a coughing fit.

14. I laugh at the dumbest things...even to the point of laughing at something serious. I always seem to make light of a situation...even to the point of joking (like the one time I started laughing after I sliced my finger...I took a good chuck off and it hurt like the dickens, but I was laughing so hard, I had tears rolling down my face (or maybe that was from pain...?))

15. Sometimes, I'm like a walking zombie...I'm there, but I'm not.

16. I often repeat myself...whether 'tis to a question or to a response.

17. I love to throw in some old English whenever I can.

18. And although people believe it to be improper, 'methinks' is actually an old English word. Shakespeare used it.

19. I love to jot down a poem or 2. My favourite style of poetry is haiku.

20. I also love to write stories when I'm in the mood to do so...unfortunately, I have the habit of starting a story and never finishing it....

21. The above is probably because I'm a total day-dreamer...I play the story in my head.

22. My brain is also a wonderfully scary radio. Sometimes, I can't turn it off or change the station. Right now, I have 4-5 different songs playing at once...I think it's a mix of Seal, Sting, John Mayor, Pachabel[sp?], and the London Symphony Orchestra...oh, and the Blue Man Group just popped up too.

23. Despite my love for playing music, I cannot stand to listen to it. I've pretty much given up on all genres...although if I'm really wanting somethin' to listen to, I listen to classical or folk/instrumental.

24. I can cook pretty well and I love to try new things. My latest finds have been a wonderful vegan chili (which I believe any meat lover would love), garbanzo bean tacos, and roasted shiitake mushrooms.

25. Oh my...the last one? M'kay...well...here's kind of a downer for you...I am a real loner type. I'm practically invisible and easily forgotten. I've had countless "friendships", but none have lasted for more than a few years. I've never understood why, although I have a feeling it is because I'm a "Miss Goody-2-Shoes" and quite old fashioned that people just get bored of me and just let go.

1) I perpetually have the Dawsons Creek theme song stuck in my head

2) I'm a huge Star Wars fan, but really dig Next Generation era Trek

3) Sometimes during bad movies, I will make lists of horrendous ways I'd rather be killed than watching the movie I was watching: the first time this happened was during Spiderman 3, and the list got (coincidentally) to 25.

4) I own the Mighty Ducks trilogy

5) I've never fully sat through Grease

6) During my final year of high school, due to being 18 I was allowed to write my own notes about why I had missed class or why I was late (which my teacher's apparently loved reading). Some of these notes included: "was sick, mon - thurs" "I woke up and was faced with a choice; go back to sleep or come to your class. Guess which one won?" "Lord of the Rings marathon was more important than first period...and I accidentally overslept into your class" and an epic story the involved fighting Jaws and evading Raptors while looking for an entrance to Narnia from Middle Earth.

7) I've split my head open 3 times.

8) I work in a homeless youth shelter.

9) I also run a food bank out of my church.

10) I have had two salads in my life time... I just turned 23.

11) It was a yearly tradition for me in high school to skip school once a year and go see a movie. These movies were: The Lord of The Rings trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, and King Kong.

12) Apparently I can't count, as I originally typed this in as 25.

13) I occasionally right worship music

14) At my school's 5th grade talent show, me and a friend the dance from Will Smith's "Men In Black" music video.

15) I sometimes 'act' in productions at my church. I also use to do this with some friends film projects for school; one time my performance was so bad, I was digitally replaced by a bush. Anytime someone tells me I'm a good actor, I tell them this story.

16) A couple of weeks ago, any conversation (my talking portion of it) I had with someone from 11-11:30 only consisted of lyrics from the song 'Forgot About Dre' (the clean version). Just cause.

17) I often break into a Christian Bale Batman voice impression, simply because it is insanely fun to speak in that voice.

18) I love the opportunities God grants me to share my faith and his love with others

19) About two months ago, me and some friends spontaneously decided to go rafting. We started construction at 11:45pm, and were rafting down a near by river at 2am.

20) On that same night, on our way home 'Party In The USA' came on the radio...which was promptly blared and danced to. With the exception of one person, everyone in the car was 21 and up.

21) With that same group of people, I often play variations of Tag on playgrounds late at night.

22) One night while working an overnight (at the youth shelter), after completing paperwork for a straight hour I sent out an email to all staff and departments containing the agency's "new and official zombie contingency plan", which everyone seemed to get a very big kick out of, especially management.

23) I have also done this at the food bank I run. I often wonder how the volunteers feel about a boss who does stuff like this...semi-frequently.

24) When I was 5 years old, I wanted to be Batman. I am now 23, and that is still my career goal.
