My favorite thing about 24 is the fact that whatever can go wrong in the show, will go wrong. At least until the final minutes when Jack saves the country again :p. I would post some examples of what I mean, but I don't want to give it away to people who may have missed them. Besides, if you watch the show, you should know exactly what I mean.

So, earlier in this thread, someone said that this episode was going to be played three times this week because it was so "shocking".

It just seemed to me that everything happened as expected... I mean, YEAH, Air Force One got hit, but we all know that it's just an 'indirect' hit.

Unless the real shocker was supposed to be the fact Edgar accidentally designed his spreadsheet in a row-major format rather than a column-major format, nearly destroying the database at Division... :o

The twist was pretty weak. I think it's safe to say, though, that the president is dead...since the preview for the next episode, if you haven't seen it, strongly implies his absence. It wasn't really a twist, but I guess it's surprising that they did off the President. On the other hand, who cares? There were no subplots involved with him like there were with President Palmer, he was just your usual gravelly speaking generic president who chimed in to remind viewers that the United States was under attack.

This show has decidedly gotten weaker. Part of it is because of the unbelievablity...the show is already hard to believe, but I think it's too much to swallow that the terrorists were able to, from last count, plan a train bombing, plan the capture of the defense secretary, plan a takeover of every nuclear plant in the nation, and then also execute an attack on the holiest of holy targets...ALL IN THE SAME DAY. And there's nothing really compelling as the Navi family subplot.

I am!

I think Marwan has some dirt on the VP and he's blackmailing him or something. There has to be a reason why he's so timid and nervous and insecure.

Plus, it would make sense that if Marwan had plans to take the President out of commission, he would have the VP in his grip so that he'd be ineffective when sworn into power.

I fell asleep through this week's episode...more out of tiredness rather than the episode itself being bad..but I think this show is starting to phone it in. It's hard to build suspense when Marwan is apparently able to do just about anything he wants.

Next week's episode-
They're bringing back former President Palmer!!
Interesting...about Palmer. They're really taking it to the liberals...painting people who are for civil liberties as hindering Jack and the good guys.

Although the show has lots of ridiculous elements, its handling of torture strikes me as really ridiculous, and kind of offensive given today's climate...Vietnam War POWs went through worse torture for months and didn't give up the name of their unit, and in this past episode, a hardened ex-Marine, after a couple minutes of torture, gives up the exact location of Marwan? C'mon... And then Jack knocks him out cold? What if this guy acted like any half-wit terrorist and gave him a fake location? Then Jack would've been screwed if he had to come back to him.

Wow this show has really gone down the drain. The current president being inexplicably stupid and flip-flopping (is he supposed to be a caricature of Kerry) every episode? Ex-president Palmer inexplicably being brought in to take care of a situation he knows nothing about? An ongoing spat between the two least appealing of the CTU analysts? The whole terrorist operation uncovered by a suspicious girlfriend? The episode ending, not with a cliffhanger, but with Chloe expertly blowing away a terrorist? And wtheck, how many times in this season alone has CTU sent a couple of agents to retrieve evidence only to have the entire group, save the main character, get blown away? It's getting a little boring to watch two sides with practically limitless capabilities duke it out with one side losing only out of pure stupidity.

The world is ending. We agree on something.

Well, now let's don't be too quick - I may have to rethink my original opinion. I don't want the world to end just yet. Nah - after seeing the end of the last episode - she still rocks.

I liked her from Season 3. I think she's hot in a nerd way. Which is good. And her character is cool .............

I thought her character was interesting because she was the first unattractive and dumpy female to be on the show. It was as if her character had a built-in complex since she had to be working with the likes of Michelle, Elisha Cuthbert, and Nina. But now they have Edgar, and that's enough dumpiness for me.
