  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain.

I keep hearing about that book, so it's definitely on my list and I need to get hold of a copy. I just have so many other books that are also on my list...

Spoken like a true book lover. :satisfied: It really is a good book so far, and it's like a psychology book.. I wasn't really expecting that, I'm not really sure what I was expecting when I started reading it. All I know is I think I'm an introvert.

I started book #17, The Fairest Beauty by Melanie Dickerson, and it is apparent that I am on a fairy tale kick. I don't know what it is about fairy tales but I never seem to tire of them. You could retell them in a million different ways, especially Beauty and the Beast, and I would probably enjoy most of them. I hope y'all are slaying your reading goals for the year. :)

I love fairy tails too! Retellings of them are fun. I believe I read that book by Melanie Dickerson and I have another one by her sitting in my room to read. :D

I believe the Princess Spy is the one here. I haven’t read that Cinderella one but I’ve read a few by other authors. Ella Enchanted will always be my favorite.

How is everyone doing on their reading goals?
I have surpassed mine and at this point am just taking it easy. I still read but I'm not recording them as diligently as I was. I hope everyone is having a lovely time with their reading adventures. :)

I’ve read 11/18 books so far this year. I’m slightly behind on my 1.5 books a month goal. But it shouldn’t be too hard to catch up when I have spare time.
I just started an interesting book several days ago that I think I can finish this week when I have time. :)

I'm 25/30 (I think, now I'm self doubting so I need to go check GR lol) but to be honest I have fallen behind a bit on reading. So much has been going on and I haven't really been in the reading mood. BUT! It's September.. it's going to get cooler now, and that means nice reading weather. So I'll be reading more stuff in no time. :satisfied:

My goal for this year was to read 30 books, and I ended up reading 35. That's down from the past two years, but I may have ended up reading some longer books this year (I know one was over 1,000 pages).

So 30 seems like an achievable target, and I'll probably aim for that next year too.

I slightly exceeded my goal for 2018, but several of them were long books. I'd like to read a larger variety of books this year so I will try to avoid the 600-1000 page books this year (unless it's a really good book).
