I have an interesting take on this. I believe it was the Jewish believers that turned on Paul. Why? There is a strong prohibition against Jews going to Gentile courts to sue one another. There is even a special swear word for Jews that do that. One is considered "cut off from the People" if they do that. When Paul appealed his case to Rome, rather than accept the decision of the Sanhedrin, he essentially broke rule. It would have been quite the scandal. I'm sure a lot of Jewish believers didn't understand.I find this verse rather interesting.
Paul says here that ALL those in Asia had turned from him! Is that the only geographical area that totally "rejected" Paul?
