Priestly role ... sounds like its reading into the passage something that it doesn't say.
Yup, many ways God could deal with over population and I wouldn't expect one simple aren't to be the complete solution.
What does it mean that Adam and Eve had a priestly role?
Also, whats your view on this article? Why did God tell Adam and Eve to fill the earth—if no one died, wouldn't the earth have become overpopulated?
1) Humanity was to work as God's stewards in the care and management of our world. We are to represent God, a priestly role. Whenever scripture mentions God clothing people it is always His priests. The Fall did not annul that role. God's covering of the couple had little to do with body shame as we know it, but was an act of great grace extended to humanity to continue with God's initial purposes for humanity.
2) Humanity was not created immortal. That was to come, symbolised by the tree of life. Jesus alone was to bring that to humanity. We don't know what death would be like in an unfallen world of course, but significantly different from what we experience now. That article does not follow this direction.

. Or maybe He would have taken people as they were ready, and given them glorified bodies on a new earth.
My reply was ...in regard to the first half of said post. What does it mean that Adam and Eve had a priestly role?

i think that was more to do with him covering their shame(sin)by the shedding of blood..animals were slain to clothe(cover) adam & eve ... "without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin"
I think ... Making it nothing but opinion, that it is buried under a flood of silt making it a rather abundant source of oil ...Do you think the Garden of Eden is around today?
I was recently thinking about adam and eve, and 2 very confusing things occurred to me about them.
1-Do you think they went to heaven or hell? They are the two people responsible for all the sin and problems going on in the world today.
What makes you think Adam and Eve repented of their sin of bringing evil into the world?
In the constraints of your question, I would have to ask you what you think God's plan for Adam and Eve was if they hadn't eaten the fruit? Would he have instituted a system where two humans, one male and one female, would have been chosen by him upon reaching a certain age to be mates and they would have had some very boring, but functional, sex to procreate?
Do animals sin by having sex? Why do you think that sinless humans would not figure out all of their bodily functions, including the fact that Tab A fits in Slot B? Did Adam have a prostate? You do realize that it is a natural function of the prostate to relieve itself occasionally while sleeping? This would have happened to Adam.
I do not equate sex between Adam and Eve as sin,God told man to be fruitful and multiply.
The tree was the tree of knowlage of good and evil, I believe that to be a separate circumstance from normal relations.
So you do believe we (not just us, most people alive in the world right now) would exist right now, if they didnt sin, taking into consideration the fact that without sin in the world, the circumstances that led to many people being born wouldnt happen?
I like your explanation very much. There is reason to believe that Adam and Eve were saved. 1. Like you said, God sacrificed and animal to cover the symbol of their sin (the knowledge that they were naked) They accepted His symbol of blood sacrifice and clothed themselves with it. 2. Their son Abel knew about this sacrifice because Genesis tells us that He killed a lamb and offered it as a sacrifice to the Lord and God accepted it. Where did he learn about this if not from Adam and Eve?
Cain on the other hand refused to trade his vegetables with Abel to purchase a lamb and offer it to God as a sacrifice. He decided that since he had worked hard to grow those vegetables he would just offer to God the works of his hands. God rejected that. God will never accept those who offer their works to Him. He only accepts those who offer the blood of the lamb for their sins. God held Cain responsible for his incorrect religion of works because evidently Adam and Eve had taught him that only a blood sacrifice is acceptable to God. So yes, I believe Adam and Eve learned from God how to be right with Him and they taught it to Abel and Cain but Cain refused to admit that he needed a blood sacrifice to cover His sins and offered God his good works. That still happens all of the time.
True, but God told Adam that he could eat from the tree of life, but that he could not eat of the tree of knowledge.Humanity was not created immortal. That was to come, symbolised by the tree of life.
I think it is interesting that they tried to hide from God but He pursued them and gave them a chance to come clean, so to speak. They did not die at the moment of sin.
They were ashamed hidden from God,trying to hide their knowledge with fig leaves.
This shows a act of repentance.
God covered their sins with the skin of animals, the animals were killed and blood was shed for their atonement.
The animals paid the price and covered their sin,Christ paid the price for all mankind once and for all.
I definately believe that they went to heaven and back to God. That is why there is a verse in the Bible where God says He had to remove their access to the Tree of Life because He did not want them to live forever in sin and exiled from God.
