16 bit ram?

I was looking up new ram for my computer on newegg. I am running ddr 3200 400mhz 186 pin. While looking this up i saw 16 bit ddr. What is it? Is standard ram 32 bit due to processers being 32 bit? Is there a special processor that runs with the 16 bit?

AFAIK, 16-bit DDR ram is splitting the 32-bit data into two 16-bit sequential chunks. I'd imagine it'd be slower that 32-bit, so you're probably better off buying the 32-bit.
