This is so charming...perhaps a "Dark Prince of Wales" somewhere in your background?
Come on now....what are these accents about?

many many people do live in canal boats in England , but if you called them that they would string you up , they call them NARROW boats , and it is a whole other culture .
I spent a week with my parents and brother on a narrow boat , it was the most relaxing Holiday I have had! Great fun , and the pace is so slow and smooth.

accents are not my forte' and it's odd really because I have had a fair bit of moving around since being born in North Wales , I tend to have a very mixed accent , I can do a good London accent , and often do , but I find myself slipping in and out of Northern accents from time to time ....... which often makes eyes widen :D
when I hear an accent that comes from Chester , an old English Roman city , I can say YES! that is the basis for my accent , not welsh , and not Manccunian , and it is strange , because I have only over the last few years been able to pin it down , my older brothers accent is very similar , and we both lived in Chester for a few formative years .

Cygnus

Hi again, Cygnus :)

Forgive my ignorance, but I have no clue what Manccunian is?

I find the variations in accent really interesting. People from Great Britain or the States seem to think NZers and Aussies speak the same, which generally makes us (and the Aussies) shudder! :D Our respective accents are quite different, really, and of course, we favour ours!

Folk who live in the South Island of NZ have a slight rolling to their Rs and a slightly more noticeable drawl to their speech than those in the North Island. My Dad is from the South Island and I hear it when he says 'brackfast' and 'wrastling'. :D

Hi freespirit

the British are such a strange lot , very focused on identity ( I have spent most of my life with an identity crisis) the Scots "hate" the English , the English make fun of the "Irish" and they all "hate" the Welsh :D

so I grew up knowing well the social impact of North V South , my Mother is from Lancashire , kind generous friendly people , my step father was from London , very strict , outspoken to the point of insulting at times , but at school there was such a mix of many more people , and I always liked newcomers , one girl came from Malta! and we had several Indians , Sihks , and Carribian newcomers , but that was the 70s ..... and so the UK is a real metropolis but beyond wisdom , for instead of mixing , Britain is fragmenting , whole areas are bought up by one group or culture with no intention of learning the language , just like "China town" , and that's fine but for extremists.... I fear for the next generation.......
I guess it will work out in the end but consider the size of the UK ,and the present growing population , then compare that with large continents.

Greetings Cygnus :)

I can well understand your concern....

I can't help but love the romantic history of the English and the Welsh with their castles and knights and courts and troubadours....Have you ever visited any of your Welsh Castles...taken any pictures? Did you have to study feudal and rennaisssance times? I love authentic rennaissance music myself....I was looking at a great site for Welsh Castles:

Here's another question for you, Cygnus ^_^

If you're a postaholic and a musicaholic, what percentage of your day is left for other things??? ;) :D

(And if you listen to music while working, you can't count that time!) ;)

Recognise this? ;) :D

Hi JS , I would say it is the Constellation of Cygnus ......... ^_^

In the constellation of Cygnus
There lurks a mysterious, invisible force
The Black Hole
Of Cygnus X-1

Six Stars of the Northern Cross
In mourning for their sister's loss
In a final flash of glory
Nevermore to grace the night...

RUSH

sepulchre_100.jpg
Northampton's (UK) oldest standing building. It was built in 1100 on the orders of the first Earl of Northampton, Simon de Senlis, who'd just returned from the crusades. It was based on the original Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. It's one of the UK's few surviving round churches.
OPEN for tourists: 1 May-30 September .... ;)

GREAT CYGNUS!!!! I AM SO THRILLED!!!
I'll have to go look up some of my English and Welsh Ancestry...I have all the family records going back to the mid 1500's...I have some great Coat of Arms with a double crown involved...I have always loved birds, crows and ravens too...diving ducks...

I LOVE your pictures and stories!!! Especially about castles and music and rennaissance! Have you ever gone to these places yourself? They must have been less than a few hours away or so? I would love to travel to just visit some of these Welsh Medieval castles!...( I also love dearly the castles of the south of France, authentic French Renissance Music, and discovering the origins of the true 12th century Albigenses persecution and what silk banners they had in their time!) If there were ever hope to resolve some of the ghostly issues of the castles(!) Whew...to spend the night over night at a castle---and sense for ghosts!...You know, like a kind of priestly prayer circle or something?

I also noticed this North Eastern Welsh castle, Ewloe Castle:

ewloe6.jpg

Somethings about my own life are so filled with change and living life moment by the moment, where I would rather be projecting life strategies five years in advance( I trust in the Lord for all measures of time I have to live by), I sense some things from the deep long ago past ( as in my sleep and in my old old dreams) are very unmoving and long standing and unchanging---as in traditions and old ways of life...I would have wanted a little more traditonal values in my life, but working with resolve and resolute actions in life, at times traditional values have to be looked at as functional or what is working the best at the moment...just listening and not opinionating is somethings OK, but I rather confront issues to solve problems......

Music is sometimes all we have for resolve....aaahahahahaha!!!LOLXOXLOL!!!

Do you travel in your trucking with laptops, Cygnus????!!!
