Dear Amisk. Yes there were 10, and Jesus simplified them into 2 Commandments. 1) Love God with all your hearts, with all your souls, and with all your minds. That is easy to understand, and, whoelse but God made us in His image, and Him we thank for our lives, and everything we have, or AM. The other Commandment is a loving and worthwhile reason to live after. " Love each other, as you love yourselves." In easy to understand language: treat all others, as you would like to be treated by all others. Again, easy and straightforward enough, to understand. I can assure you, ( and I do so, with humility and love,) once we sincerely try and follow those 2 Commandments, we will find that loved ones, as well as all others around us, will treat us well, and it becomes better and better, as we go through life. We will also have the Lord`s Love, Joy and Peace to share with others, and life will be truly enjoyable. We will also find that to us, drugs of any sort, are unnecessary. Myself and many Christian men and = women can, and will testify to the truth of this. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.

Interesting. I'd consider the parallels that Matthew drew from when the Israelites were given the 10 commandments and how he describes the sermon on the mount. Take for example the idea of Israel/Jesus fasting in the desert, being tempted, then God giving a revelation on top of a mountain to his people.

I think anyone that genuinely seeks the Holy Spirit and has the Holy Spirit in him will have no problem living the 10 commandments simply like Emmy said by living the 2 through the Holy Spirit.

Who cares about the 10 commandments anymore?

That's Judaism.

Christianity has 2 commandments that are greater than the 10 commandments.

Why Christianity holds onto the 10 commandments is beyond me. I guess they are just totally ignorant of their Christian faith. You'd think they'd read the Bible and find out Christianity only has 2 commandments, which encompass the 10 and the 100's upon 100's in the Old Testament.

1) Love God
2) Love Each Other As God Loves

Those two commandments encompass ALL commandments, and are the greatest two commandments to follow, and the only two commandments Christians have.

Christians are held to a much higher standard than others. We have 2 commandments not because we have less of a standard, but because we have a completely and totally high standard to be perfect as God is perfect. Love and Love.

Christians holding onto the 10 commandments instead of the 2 commandments is just an insult to their own faith. They're making a big deal about such a lesser thing (10 commandments), while ignoring the real big deal of the 2 GREATEST commandments, making them out to be ignored and less important.
