  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So what you posted above applies to the apostles who kept disobeying Jesus by falling asleep after He told them to stay awake?
Luke 13:3 Jesus said to repent or perish, there is no loophole to get around this even though it appears you're looking for one.
IF it was sinful for the Apostles to fall asleep, IF they did not repent IF Christ forgave them anyway (that's a lot of if-ing) then the only conclusion that can be drawn from that is Christ is not faithful and true to His own words.

I think Christ recognizes our human weaknesses, which is why He said to the apostles after they disobeyed Him "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak".

It's not a matter of trying to find a loophole. It's a matter of being humble and honest in admitting that we don't obey as we ought to.

You posted "It's a matter of being humble and honest in admitting that we don't obey as we ought to" and I agree. What you posted here is a requirment for the Christian, not an option. Those Christians that will not humble themselves and repent will not continue to have their sins forgiven. This has been a requirment of God's people both under the OT (2 Chronicles 7:14) and NT (1 John 1:7-9).
