  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

So Paul seems rather contraditory in this passage:

First he admonishes women to pray with their head covered:

4 Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, 5 but every wife who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, since it is the same as if her head were shaven. 6 For if a wife will not cover her head, then she should cut her hair short. But since it is disgraceful for a wife to cut off her hair or shave her head, let her cover her head.

Yet later he says:

15 but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering.

So is a woman's hair her covering, or does she need to wear a head covering? I think it is very vague!!

I interpret is as meaning the her long hair is her glory, and evidence that she is to be covered, by a material covering, because the only other way to interpret the verse would mean that if a woman has no hair, they should cut off her hair. Also, we know it was the custom of Jewish and early Christian women to wear a veil or covering, and that makes the most sense in this context.

I know this verse sparks a lot of debate between those who believe it was referring to custom and not for today and those who think it's in effect, and also between those who see it as meaning a separate covering vs. long hair as a covering, and you can find a articles supporting each of those views online. For me, a (fabric) covering just makes the most sense, and I have a testimony of it making a difference in my own life, so that's what I stick with. :crosseo: (headscarf smiley, lol)

It is just a quick thought:

Long hair covers the back and the sides. A head covering covers the front.
