  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

  1. Three Questions about God's Law

Are God's Ten Commandments good or bad for mankind? If good -- then what day of the week does the Sabbath Commandment of Ex 20:8-11 refer to ? Why is Sunday often kept instead of the 7th day of the week? ====================================== Ex 20:10 "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the...
  2. Did the early church teach that Christians should keep the Sabbath (i.e., Saturday)?

Hello! This could be a "church fathers" thread, but since a similar one I did before was moved, I'll just post here. The following article claims that Theophilus (Patriarch of Antioch from 169 to 182) taught that Christians must keep the Sabbath: Theophilus of Antioch – 160-180s AD The main...
  3. Jesus rose on what day?

Brothers and sisters, happy Sabbath! No translation has understood the "expression" of God: "the first of the Sabbaths". It does not refer to Sunday but to Saturday being the first Sabbath, another way of referring to the seventh day of the creation week. This is necessary because the Sabbath...
  4. Did Judaism get the Sabbath right?

Brothers and Sisters, speaking of the first day in these forums, I have highlighted that the end of the first day was a “morning”, in capital letters below, when my brothers in Christ have focused on what they think is the beginning of the first day. And God said, “Let there be light,” and...
  5. Levitical Priests Never Commanded to Teach on the Sabbath

Here is a problem for SDA and others who believe that Saturday worship is laid down in the Ten Commandments and reinforced by the first books of the Old Testament. The Sabbath Commandment, or the Fourth Commandment, as some Protestants call it, is labor law. The goal is to give everyone a day...
  6. sabbath in the bible ~ which day? ~ relevant?

Hi to all. A thread to post the texts of scripture that relate to the sabbath in the bible. A poll to see what people believe about which day the sabbath is. Please vote before posting. Is the sabbath relevant? If so, who is it relevant for? If not, what was the purpose of it and for whom...
  7. Why the Sabbath isn’t on Saturday or Sunday

The pagan Roman Julian/Gregorian calendar that we now use was only created in 45 BC, before this time it did not exist. Therefore, the current 7 day rolling week we currently use only began at that time. Before this date the Romans (Just in the Provence of Rome) were using a calendar with an 8...
  8. Bible Sabbath vs week-day-1 observance in the Bible

Catholic answers - address this question about "changing" the Sabbath from one day to another. Catholic Answers sets the record straight with some wishful thinking added in at the last? (that quote was also from the same link as posted above) They "of course" fail to find even ONE text...
  9. The Seventh Day is the SABBATH of the Lord thy God Exodus 20:10

"The SEVENTH day is the SABBATH of the Lord thy God" Exodus 20:10 The Lord's Day! “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, From doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding...
