  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Orthodox Christians As The Victims Of Heretical Sects

This originated as a reply to a thread, but grew a bit too large, so I made it a blog post. Indeed, it is true that Roman Pagans accused the early Christians of cannibalism, based on a misunderstanding of the Eucharist. Pagan accusations of gross sexual immorality were probably the result of...

How do we rule out the possibility of Gnosticism being true?

Mainstream (Catholic and Orthodox) theology is defended with arguments that, essentially, tend to boil down to appealing to the writings of the Apostolic fathers. According to many Christians, these writings in combination with the gospels give the most comprehensive view of the original...

Is the "Testament of Adam" a Gnostic text?

The Testament of Adam was composed in Syriac from around 100 AD to about the 5th Century AD. In the Testament, Adam retells to his son Seth God's revelations to Adam. The first part (Chapters 1-2) of the Testament narrates the events that occur at each hour of the day, like angels praising God...

What does the Church think of the Free Masons, Traditionalist(Evola and Guèron), Mormons, and the Rosicrucian?

Theory on the Number of the Beast

EDIT in the poll, please select all that apply. So if you select "man-made Torah" and "man-made Christ" select "both of the above" as well. Apologies as I don't have the most scholarly sources for everything yet since I'm still fleshing out the evidence for this. If you can disprove anything in...

    Gnostic Discussion

What the gnostic books reveal is that the gnostic style of faith is a different way to be Christian. It is to reject the fundamentalist's way to simply "believe" and that is it! It rejects the Biblical literalists, rejects those who say just accept the Creeds, rejects those who say orthodox...

    Intelligent MALEVOLENT design?

Hi! This is coming from a curious nonbeliever. I've been seriously pondering the theory of abiogenesis and Darwinian macroevolution, and found them wanting. It does seem more intuitive to me to believe there is an intelligence behind creation, than everything is sheer randomness (not to...
