  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    The Sheep Who've Been Scattered

Jeremiah 23:1-3 ESV “’Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!’ declares the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: ‘You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to...

Psalms 57:1-3 ESV “Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by. I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me. He will send from heaven and...

    Hot Indignation Seizes Me

Psalms 119:49-50 “Remember your word to your servant, in which you have made me hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life." What is the word of God, to us who are followers of Jesus Christ, in which we have put our hope? He promised to save us from our...

    So Walk in Him

Colossians 2:6-7 ESV “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Well, people receive Christ Jesus the Lord in many different ways, but only one way is the true...

    They Glory in Their Shame

Philippians 3:17 “Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.” I don’t know personally very many people who are walking (in conduct, in practice) according to how Paul and the other New Testament apostles conducted their lives...

    Many will Follow their Sensuality

2 Peter 2:1-3 ESV “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and...

The Easy Way or the Right Way?

Matthew 7:13-14 ESV “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” Narrow vs. Broad If something is narrow it is...

Persecuting Jesus’ Followers Acts 9:1-2 ESV “But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to...

Put Not Your Trust in Humans

Psalms 146:3-4 ESV “Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.” Masters of Smooth Talk The picture the Lord gave me here was of a black dog with a long snout...

John 10:1-11 ESV “’Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own...

    Time is Not Forever

The Scriptures Teach The Scriptures are filled with instructions and warnings which are for our good, to keep us from setting our hearts on evil like the Israelites of old did, and to keep us from falling into the devil’s trap, and into sin. They teach us that we must, as followers of Jesus...

    They'll Be Lovers of Self

2 Timothy 3:1-9 ESV “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people… Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed...

    For His Name's Sake

If we study the Scriptures, particularly the New Testament, in context, one verse at a time, chapter by chapter, and book by book, we will soon discover that the picture some of us have had painted to us of Jesus Christ and of his gospel, and of the life of a believer in Jesus, is false. Too...
