    Scapular

I was just pondering this last night before I fell asleep. After someone dies, should you leave the scapular on them or can/should you remove it? I have become such an infrequent visitor, I am happy to see this site still around with a lot of old familiar faces. Having a wife and two great...

    A new Bishop!!!

Finally, we have a new Bishop in the Sioux City Diocese. After years without one, we have our shepherd. He is being ordained in a little over an hour. There are a lot of Catholics where I work, so we found a TV and we'll see it when we can between students. :) I'm so happy! A Bishop! Wow!

    Song

Of all things, for fun my wife and I were singing parts of church songs before we fell asleep. There is a song that has the words "...nor the arrow that flies by day." What song is that from??? It was driving us both nuts, keeping us awake. Fatigue took care of the rest... :) Thanks for...

    Saved by Grace...

I just received this e-mail and I thought it was good: THE LORD'S BASEBALL GAME Freddy and the Lord stood by to observe a baseball game. The Lord's team was playing Satan's team. The Lord's team was at bat, the score was tied zero to zero, and it was the bottom of the ninth inning...

    "Our Fathers" TV series?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0421108/ I wonder how much fuel this will add to the anti-Catholic groups? :sigh:

An interesting perspective on our new Pope

My aunt is a principal at Blessed Sacrament grade school. Her second grade class was confused. Why did the Church elect a "rap singer" to the papacy? Cute, huh?

Where'd all the other states go?

I only see Rhode Island (which really isn't an island, by the way) through Wyoming. Where are all the others in the armor store?

    Terri Schiavo

This may come to a head tonight with the removal of her feeding tube. Could someone enlighten me on this situation? My impression is that if one is kept alive by superficial means, removing those means is not considered suicide, assisted or other. Is this correct? If so, would you consider...

Another new dad added to the club!

Hey! I'm a dad!!! Just this morning at 3:02. This is the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, isn't it? I'm so happy. It seems surreal at first. I'm just overwhelmed with excitement. We named him Joseph. Wow, I'm a real live dad. This will take some time... A lot happens in 2 years. Gee...

23 Ways To Identify a Faithful Parish

I apologize if this was posted sometime in the past, but I thought it was worth sharing. My mother-in-law sent it to me. 1. There is at least one daily Mass. Obviously, if a parish shares a pastor with other parishes, this may not always be possible. But barring that, a parish needs to offer...

    Thanks SOOO much!

Your prayers helped! We just received an offer Saturday for our house. It should follow through without a hitch and we're closing mid-December. It's been vacant for almost 6 months (on the market for 1 year). Hmmm...about 9 days ago I started praying the St. Joseph Novena to God...

Cant' have the BVM when Kerry's around???

Dear Spirit Daily, In reference to the article, "Catholics May Tip Scales for Bush" on your website, I just thought I'd add my personal experience with Kerry. I am a pro-life Republican. My husband is a very involved, pro-union Democrat, strongly supporting Kerry. We live in Delaware...

    Exorcism in Iowa

I may have mentioned this earlier, but this story has left a life-long impact on me since I was 10 years old. I often wondered how Satan could be allowed to exist with such a great, good God. The next day after I considered this, the story of Emma Schmidt was revealed to my 4th grade class. I...

    Jeb Bush is Catholic

Maybe I'm a little slow, but I just discovered that not only is Jeb Catholic, but he's also a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. How about that?

    666 Movie

Apologies if this has been posted already... You guessed it. The Beast is supposedly going to be released on June 6, 2006 (i.e.- 666). Jesus never existed and here's the proof... You have to be kidding me. But, I guess nothing ever surprises me. :sigh: Here's the link to...

    Humble Request for Prayers

There are better things to pray for, I know. But boy I just can't seem to sell my house. Any little prayers you could offer up would be greatly appreciated. My wife thanks you, too! I'm working on my St. Joseph novena. (I did adoration, too, Aaron. :) )

    Infant Baptism

I am expecting my first child in February, God willing. Personally, I would have the child baptised as soon as possible. However, it seems to me that people wait almost a month before they accomplish this in their Parish! This seems nuts to me. Why wait so long? Am I overly concerned or...
