  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does the Doctrine of Hell and ECT Hold up to Scrutiny?

Does the Hell/ECT Doctrine Hold Up to Scrutiny? Most folks listen to their priest/preacher/minister and also read their Bibles, and most of the time they hear or see “Hell” mentioned, and accept it as a given, in a prima facie sense. I ask you, however, is it so? Does this word and concept...

    Godfire - a Word Study

Keep in mind that the following was written as a book chapter... GODFIRE I keep coming up against fire in the Bible as being part of God’s plan and even of His essence, so this chapter will be a word study on fire and related words: fire, firebrand, firebrands, firepans, fires, flame, burn...

Overcomers, the Second Death & Lake of Fire

I was reading in the Revelation the letters to the seven churches. The second letter, to Smyrna, said, "He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death." (2:11) I checked Strong's - it is the first mention of the Second Death. Later, in chapters 20 and 21, we see it in sharper focus...

A Question About Ressurection Versus Instant Glorification

This has been nagging at me for some time, and it really did not gel in my mind until I was halfway through the thread title. My sister-in-law died this morning. That made me think of every comment you commonly hear at funerals and the like: They're in a better place...or with the Lord...or...

Not Lawful for the Jews to Kill...?

I was reading in the Gospel of John this morning, and came up short on this: Pilate, therefore, said to them, 'Take ye him -- ye -- and according to your law judge him;' the Jews, therefore, said to him, 'It is not lawful to us to put any one to death;' -John 18:31, YLT It wasn't the YLT I was...

The Spread of Species Across the Globe

Somebody's post on another www forum got me to thinking about this again: Now if Noah's Ark came to rest in the mountains of Ararat, keep in mind that the place is near the center of the planet's land mass. It would have been a GREAT place from which to re-populate the earth with animals. God...

    Translation on the Other Foot

For years I've been reading of efforts of liberal and left-leaning groups to influence or to even sponsor new translations of the Bible. This came to me mostly in the context of more conservative churches, but I now find that the pendulum swings the other way too. Sorry folks, the message of...

    The Shroud Date - Updated

Science seems to have moved beyond flawed carbon-dating (at least there are those who disagree with the medieval date announced in 1988. New methods have yielded a MUCH earlier date: Shroud of Turin - evidence it is authentic; the real shroud of Jesus Christ

    Hell is a 404

I have spent the last two years digging into my KJV to see if the Hell theory holds up or not. I am a former atheist, raised in a damnationist church, a former member of an annihilationist denomination, and am now a proponent of universal reconciliation. So you see, I have seen this subject...

    able AND willing

In the course of my delving into God's Word, I wondered, finding that He is willing, if He was able as well. This is my simple conclusion: God is both willing AND able to save all. See Psalm 49:15, 86:13, 103:8-14, 136, Isaiah 1:18, 6:7, 25:7-8, 26:19, 33:24, 43:25, 44:22, 45:8, 55:8-9...

"If Only We Had Taller Been" by Ray Bradbury

This poem leans toward works, but is beautifully expressed. It's just too rare to see Christian science-fiction poetry... The fence we walked between the years Did balance us serene It was a place half in the sky where In the green of leaf and promising of peach We'd reach our hands to touch...
