The reason for my interest in this commandment regarding the Sabbath, is because of a recent move that has begun in the Body of Christ. Which first of all is an awesome thing, I am not taking away from that by any means. And it is one to look back at our Jewish Roots. As we know the Church was birthed in Jerusalem and it was all Jews who were the first Christians, and then the Gospel was also preached to the Gentiles.
Something that I picked up however, is a push to observe the Sabbath day, (Friday evenening to Saturday evening)just like our Jewish friends, by some who do follow the festivals and traditions of the Jewish nation carefully.
According to Collosians 2:16,17: "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ."
Based upon this scripture I believe that we are not to observe a sabbath day like Saturday, but that Christ has become our 'sabbath' or as Hebrews 4 put it, "10 For he that is entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. 11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."
So therefore as Believers in our Lord Jesus Christ we have entered a life that is a sabbath, rather than observing a specific day.
