I believe that we have all been called to share the Gospel. Not just certain people who have a special gifting. Each in their own way, but it must be said as there is a great urgency. Many people do not realise this urgency and will say nothing, or if they do say something, it will be after a very long time. Hence the woeful conversion rate.
Many say that they are waiting for God to call them. But He already has. They just don't realise it.
Also, some have been taught that just by being a nice person to those whom they know, they are sharing the Gospel. But that is not right. The Gospel is a spoke message.
"Often individuals will say, “I am willing to go, should God call me to go, in the meantime, I am going to stay.” What we need to do is go, but be willing to stay if God calls us to stay. God has already called us to go." Mark Spence
Here is something to think about:
Every Christian should share the gospel with their family and with those who become their friends. But if we never go beyond that, what credit is there? Jesus said, "Even sinners love those who love them." In other words, if our love goes no further than those who already love us, we are doing only what comes naturally. There is nothing uniquely Christian about that. Christ calls us to something greater. He calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. Going beyond the comfort of our own circle to proclaim the gospel requires courage, self-denial, and a willingness to face rejection. That is the kind of love Christ demonstrated, and it is the kind of love He calls us to show. The love of Christ is not limited to just friends. It reaches neighbours, strangers, and even our enemies. Our evangelism should do the same. If we only share the gospel with those we know, we fail to show that same love to those outside our circle. Christ calls us to love those who are outside our circle.
Jesus stepped into our world to reach us. Let us step outside our circle to reach others.
