  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what do you hope to accomplish by reading such a wide variety of interests. Knowledge im sure but some conflicting going on. Only one thing is needed and that’s the Lord Jesus.

In this case I specifically want to see how Napoleon's greatest victory (The Ulm Campaign) was achieved. The Napoleonic Wars influenced a staff officer in Prussia, Carl von Clauswitz, to write an influential treatise on armed conflict, politics, and diplomacy, On War. Clauswitz would earn the rank of Major General in the Prussian Army.

In general, I read a wide variety of topics because I feel the mind an easily atrophy when not engaged. Besides I seek to understand the world in which I live.

Most don't get it and some try to get me not read. If someone does not like or not "approve" of what I read, I do not care. It is not my problem.

Thank you for that answer. I like the Bible myself, tried to read Russian history one time but was not liking it. But many people have a hard time reading the Bible. It’s is the bread of life but the world has a certain allure to them. I study it and get a great amount of understanding from it. The KJV makes me think a lot. It is exercise for my mind too!. I just like knowing what God is saying. Keeps me on the straight and narrow path. It’s like being educated.

Sounds like you would be good at leading, or at least assisting with, a Bible study group, or a ministry along those lines. Perhaps you already are doing this.

Just my view as someone from the outside.
