Luke 21
20But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, you will know that her desolation is near.
21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country stay out of the city.
22For these are the days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written.
23How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers! For there will be
great distress upon the land and wrath against this people.
24They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive into all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
25There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among the nations, bewildered by the roaring of the sea and the surging of the waves.
26Men will faint from fear and anxiety over what is coming upon the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
27At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
This is so simple:
The 'locusts' of Joel, of the 5th Trumpet, are the 'armies surrounding Jerusalem' 'causing desolation'. [=Dan 9:26's people of the prince to come destroy the city and sanctuary'.]
In Luke 21:23, the 'great distress and wrath against the people' = Matt 24:21's 'great tribulation'.
15So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by the prophet Daniel (let the reader understand),
16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
17Let no one on the housetop come down to retrieve anything from his house.
18And let no one in the field return for his cloak.
19How miserable those days will be for pregnant and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not occur in the winter or on the Sabbath.
21For at that time there will be
great tribulation, unseen from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again.
The 'great tribulation' is the 'great distress and wrath'. The Trumpets start the 'wrath against people in Judea'.... with the .... locusts, which are the 'armies surrounding Jerusalem'. Who are the armies that surround Jerusalem?
The 7 headed, 10 horned beast which is comprised of:
There are 10 horns in Psalm 83:6-8
- Edom, Ishmaelites, Moab, Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia, Tyre, Assyria.
- 10 horns also symbolically represents unfaithful Israel, ie 10 tribes of Israel.
- 7 heads refers to the seven headed beasts of Daniel 7: lion, bear, 4 headed Leopard, 1 headed 4th Beast with 10 horns
- 7 heads also refers to Gog: Meshach, Tubal, Perisa, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah
Ezek 38:2“Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him
3and say, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.
4And I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed in full armor, a great host, all of them with buckler and shield, wielding swords.
5Persia, Cush, and Put are with them, all of them with shield and helmet;
6Gomer and all his hordes; Beth-togarmah from the uttermost parts of the north with all his hordes—many peoples are with you.
When these armies (seem to be) / are destroyed (in Revelation 9:13-21), then the Daniel 7 little horn (the Dan 7 4th Beast) confirms the covenant of Daniel 9:27. (He is the 'mighty angel' of Rev 10.) The Dan 7 Little Horn has control over the saints for a 'time, times, half time' (Dan 7:25). This is the 1260 days of the 2 witnesses occurring before the 7th Trumpet (during the 2nd phase of the 6th Trumpet).
